Insufficient time for the EFL to do it. They would need to arrange a general meeting, they would need to appoint a sub committee, the sub committee would need to consult and get the comments of 72 clubs, all the comments would need to be collated, another sub committee meeting, recommendation to general meeting, decision made early 2023, Derby submit an appeal against the decision!
I do see the sentiment, but I also think as grown ups we might just need to make a sensible decision and take responsibility for ourselves.
When it’s pissing it down in December I choose not to bring my young kids to get drenched in the family stand even though I’ve paid for season tickets. In the heat this weekend I won’t bring my youngest but I’ll bring the eldest.
If someone is in the scorching sun (front 5 rows of the main stand) then they have time to move their ticket to a shaded stand (Frank Adams) or take the decision not to attend if concerned about the heat.
Whatever happens, please think of your fellow supporters and treat yourself to a pre-match shower or bath, finished off with a light application of deodorant and some clean clothes.
It's ok lads, the FA have a solution (which is half-arsed and not considering the fans at all) They have instructed all teams / games to have a water break in each half. As for fans, f**k 'em
That's what they did during games last time. They did not throw me a bottle of water then either even though the ref clearly held his hand up vaguely in my direction when he blew. Plainly no Plan B. Armed with the facts about the weather I had to take my own and bring a hat. And they now make me walk from a bloody school car park.
I think it's ludicrous to expect players to play in 32+ degree heat. No doubt we'll see some emergency stoppages for loads of fans fainting across the weekend. Dangerous and stupid.
The first match of the season at home v Stockport in 2003 was the hottest game I ever experienced. Similar temp. to that forecast on Sat - mid 30s. A temperature record for England was broken that day, I recall. We won 1-0 i think, extra drinks breaks were agreed, and it was very tough going on the terrace, in the shade - so God knows what a full 90 mins of football felt like!!!
Selective use of the press on Sat, I would imagine...

A very sensible idea @A_Worboys
Even 5.30 - 6pm would work.
Believe league rules say kick off time must be between 1130 and 330 for a saturday game unless the league instructs dfferently

When it's still 31 degrees at 8pm, it doesn't look much odds shifting it a couple of hours to be honest.

Good training for Qatar...
Come the winter looks like we'll have to start games in the morning once the projected power cuts start!
I know we were hurtling back to the 1970s, but this is too much.

It's going to be 35C on Saturday - fans might be able to take shelter, but the players can't
True, very good point. But I’d still trade places with them…. We would lose but I’d still trade places!
It could feel a bit like a World Cup match in Mexico, USA or Brazil for the boys!
Maybe they should put the sprinklers on during the game (before the hosepipe ban comes in)
At Brixton Academy the other week, they had guys going around sprinkling the crowd. Quite cool (in both senses).
Disgraceful behaviour.
Used to be bottles of piss in my day, lol.
Not if you suffer from Aquagenic Urticaria!

AP has showers now?

The crowd don't get a drink given to them at Lords when the cricketers get a drinks break. Disgraceful.
But the drinks break is long enough for people to go and get and drink or go to the loo. No chance of that happening at Adams Park

The English Football League will also have drinks breaks in each half as per its current policy when pitchside temperatures are 30C or above.

Especially now that you have to actually leave the stadium to buy a bottle of water.
Will supporters be allowed to take drinks into AP on Saturday?
I just hope that all the fans are able to get home safely.

I have it on good authority that @glasshalffull has regular showers (albeit as a responsible citizen, he limits each one to three minutes).
He would prefer that nobody takes drinks in to him whilst he is showering.
Rail strikes + Chiltern had a fire on the line today temporarily blocking access between High Wycombe and Marylebone ...
If I was an away fan I wouldn't be travelling by rail. No chance. Way too much risk.
No such thing as bad weather, just bad preparation.
Or just a bad governing body called the FA and EFL
