Excellent news and a sign for those who constantly question GA and the club, that there must be something that brings good players back and willing to pull for the cause. Alfie helping out Forino and Wakely is a great idea not just to end our disastrous start to the season but going forwards.😊
I remember chatting to his Dad at a game. Very nice bloke. And didn’t he score 10 for us that season. Every time he entered the box for a corner or set piece the opposition looked horror struck.
I would imagine with his injury record...a bit like Tyson...we are more willing to take a financial risk on a good player well known to the club and are used to managing injuries than perhaps some 'more ambitious' teams might be...which also spurs said player on. At the end of the day we need a good defender and anything else he can add to the mix is gravy. Great signing.
It's ideal for Forino's development to share minutes with an injury prone player. In terms of squad management it's ideal on paper. Forino should be ready to play a 'full' season next year when Mawson's contract ends. He's still not ready to play 35+ games a season in my opinion.
Plenty of promise, but still very green, and it's a big step to go from playing a small handful of games in a row to suddenly being expected to start almost every game.

Cheer up Trev.

Glad we didn't sign someone nowhere near as good two weeks ago
@Malone
'you know the year we won League One we didn't sign Alfie Mawson till the third game of the season.'
Yes, and didn't we put in an offer for Aberdeen's club captain the year after.
Forever to be used as your new go to response to light pre season windows 😀
Just imagine if he's as good as he was with us first time around, let alone his level after that.
Truly mouth watering, and potentially most exciting signing we've made in a decade?
Seeing fans of other clubs gobsmacked at one of our signings - and not in a bitter or dismissive way - is quite something. UTMW!
When you think he was on the verge of the England squad and went for 15-20m not that long ago, and is still only 28, it's utterly outrageous.

Lucky for them it's only little Taffazolli that he'll be coming up for corners alongside!
Well that's nice isn't it.
So we are revealing contract lengths now then?
7, but a significant amount of goals.
With that sort of threat from both centre backs for the first time in a long time, we'll hopefully be animals at set pieces with JJ's delivery.
Whoop
He was in a squad. Remember him warming up at Wembley

Fantastic signing, welcome back Alfie. Now let’s get Bishop over the line!

Exactly that on Forino.

Simply brilliant news!!!!
Excellent news, up there with signing Gary Doherty.
Think this one has slightly more excitement in fairness!
one of our most brilliant signing ever ...well done to GA and Rob ...credit where credit is due
Amazing signing for the club. If he stays fit, it could be one of the best ever .
How did I not know that his full name isn't Alfred? That's no fun!
Cracking signing. Of the deals that could wait this was it.
Is that right? I seem to remember he made his first appearance in the opening fixture at Newport. Maybe I am wrong it was a while ago.
Whoooooosh! Over your head.
Oh missed the joke 🤦♂️
