Molesworth! That's who I was thinking of. If you were a public schoolboy in the fifties, you would be eighty-ish now, maybe 82.
Of course, for those unfamiliar with the works of Ronald Searle (other than the strange feelings watching the St Trinians films in their youth) may not get the reference.
If it was going to happen today, then surely would've done by now ?
I'm starting to think it wasn't as done a deal as we all thought, well, some thought.
I'm happy to give Tyla a go, but even I'm starting to wish they would just say one way or another. But then we all know communication isn't the Wycombe way
IF we've put all our eggs in one, Bishop-shaped basket and it falls through for some reason, the club will have big questions to answer. We shouldn't be in a position where we're having to give an unproven youngster 'a go' in goal for the start of the season - but, thankfully, I don't think we will be.
Surely an "unproven" youngster can only become a "proven" youngster by sooner or later giving him a "go".
I'd be surprised if a GK does not arrive but I suppose it is possible that GA has seen enough from Tyla that he believes he deserves a starting chance.
That's correct @ReturnToSenda - Gaz has said that we're looking at someone (or words to that effect) a number of times this summer with regards to the GK position. Plan A has clearly never been to start the new season with Dickinson in goal.
I wasn't really worried about the GK situation until Monday came and went. When GA promised us a signing a new #1 was the obvious expectation, especially given the media chat that Bishop was a done-deal and Man Utd were back from their tour. Then Blunkell was announced, which you could speculate was a rushed announcement to fill the gap if Bishop had fallen through.
I appreciate that's a lot of speculation and I'm certainly not in-the-know. But I think we can safely say that 1) Bishop was Plan A once Stockdale left, and 2) its looking increasingly likely that something has gone wrong with that deal, given we're 3 days away from our first match and there's no announcement.
Quite, Alfie Mawson made his league debut for us. He did reasonably well for an "unproven" youngster!! I'm not sure Eze had ever made a league appearance before being loaned to us either.

I've never said any such thing
What's with all the full stops in all your posts?
are you a school teacher you toad ? get a life you sado
I'm neither a sado nor a masochist. Did you mean saddo?
I'm with @Wanderers82 there is nothing more irritating than someone repeating more or less the same thing over and over.
Genius.
The genius tag comes cheap in our days.
The only thing that is these days...

That's true, but we're targeting promotion. We need someone established - plus Gaz has said all summer that we're working on a Stocko replacement.
“Working on a Stocko replacement” is somewhat non-specific !

Would you rule out Josh Blunkell @Last_Quarter ?
If 5.30pm comes and goes then I’ll start to worry
I've been worried since (number) 1 o'clock came and went
Emergency goalkeeper signings do happen and the GK is only introduced to his teammates in the dressing room pre kick-off.
To that extend we still have ~70hrs left to bring in someone with experience.
However, it's beginning to feel all a bit unsatisfactory. Was Bishop ever even our target? Does GA really believe Dickinson is starting GK material?
I'm not yet at Wanderers82 level but I'm starting to feel nervous.
Surely unrelated. Right...?

It’s for his YouTube channel right?
Right?
It’s bad enough being wound by @Wanderers82 but now Taff is getting to me as well. Tell me they aren’t one and the same!!
Has Taff posted anything about the toilets?
It all adds a little spice to life for us supporters. I'm sure we'll be fine in the end.
