To be pedantic they were Stanley Bakers troops. As Lieutenant John Chard he was commissioned before Michael Caine’s Lieutenant Gonville Bromhead so pulled rank. Although neither officer had ever faced enemy action before Rourke’s Drift. A great moment in the film when Bromhead asks Chard if you ever get used to the slaughter? and he replies he wouldn’t know as he had come to build a bridge and never faced action before.
General consensus from the Burton forum thus far is that it will be a tough game and a point would be good.
They have some severe fitness issues where they could take as little as 14 players to AP.
I suspect they will sit back against us (as many teams have done and been largely successful). Having said that, they may throw the kitchen sink at us, but given a point away to Wycombe (in the grand scheme of respective league positions) would likely be a great result for them, I feel it could be a frustrating night for us and we need to setup right. Could be Kone’s night. If he starts.
Given Burton’s upturn in form, I think this is the right time to play them if their injury problems don’t improve in the next 24 hours.
So, apart from Birmingham, we really need to take advantage of that 10-15 min period at the beginning where we high press and attack and hopefully get a goal that sadly hasn’t been coming in the last few games so we can build on it.
I have a soft spot for Burton. Always enjoy the away day there (although never seen us win there!) best mate lives there, really friendly people, some fabulous pubs (Burton Bridge is one of my favourites) and they had a place called The Winery which is sadly closed now, great food and drinks and beer garden right next to the River Trent. If that was in Marlow, you wouldn’t get a reservation for six months.

Forest Green is probably another. Can’t be many.
Not 100% record but we will forever be unbeaten at the Manor
Is it away kit or red kit tomorrow? (apologies if it’s on the WWFC website)
Red kit tomorrow
A good omen perhaps. Michael Caine and his troops were wearing red when they successfully repelled the Zulus against all odds at Rourke's Drift

You'll be telling me Caine didn't engineer a draw against the Wehrmacht at Stade Colombes next!

Good to read we might be playing them at a good time fitness wise, as their last 10 game record is only one loss!
Incredible they're still in the bottom 4 with that, but shows how poor they must have been in the first 20 odd games.
