Our recent form, though we are all dreading the inevitable fall, means there is nothing much to say on a matchday except 'Crikey...that was good/lucky' and not many people to disagree/argue with...except over MOTM!
I cannot believe the stick Butcher has had on this thread. He is not Aaron Morley and for too much of that game was being asked to try and do Aaron Morley things.
Once Morley / Humphries had come on, he could go back to what he does best. Breaking play up and playing little balls to the guys who make things happen.
For me, last night showed how much our up turn in form is down to Morley and Humphries. The difference in their quality and our other midfielders is clear to see.
I also think Butcher is the type of player who needs to play regularly to get the best out of him. Old school center halves always needed a run of games to get going, I feel Butch is the same.
The one thing that definitely came out of last night's game is that we absolutely need to sign Morley and if we don't we will struggle to play this system. If Humphries then got injured as well, we'd need a new approach.
We have had a glimpse of a higher level of football with Humphreys and Morley joining the superb Josh Scowen in midfield . Butch, Bakinson and Leahy are decent players but they are not at that level.
Agreed - but hopefully someone, somewhere can see the broader point as to why I classified those horrendous defensive performances differently to how we have looked since.
Stick I consider abuse, I don't see him being abused. He is certainly being criticised but more in the context of 'what is wrong?'. He was a firm favourite when he joined and I think most of us are scratching our heads as to what happened. And can it be reversed ?
With 11 games from December 24th and the end of January including 6 in a 15 day period. We are going to need at least 20 players I would imagine, and that is with Scowen and Hanlan crocked.
I think we will need to call on Taf, Butcher and Wheeler a good few times
Oh I'll save that for when my life in tatters, an asteroid is about to collide with the earth, and I want some evidence that "things could be worse." 😁

A loss means we can have a heated debate! 🙂
You do talk shite at times and far too much, but on this occasion, you absolutely 100% nailed it!
It really wasn’t all down to Hartridge though. We didn’t have Morley, Fred, Humphreys or Taylor then.
I’m not sure about these mass debates. They can often get out of hand.
This is a forum full of football fans - I think we all talk shite at times

I certainly agree with you @Shev having been at those first two league games.
There's definitely some betting going on about how often the word "rusty" can be used on this thread.
I am sure Bristol Street Motors are horrified at the strong connection with rust. This is not what they paid sponsorship pounds for!

Yep, we need to get the other side of that 4 home games in 9 days run before we start shipping anyone off.
Just saw that my Wanderers TV subscription gets me access to the full match replay of the Swindon game. Oh the perks!
I bet you watched it though didn't you.
I tuned in at the time. You don't think I would wait till after the fact to catch the sheer drama of a Vertu McCheckaPizza game, do you?
I meant rewatched it ;-)

After we don't beat Shrewsbury it is then.
