Yeah there was some bemusement amongst some of us in the away end when we got the notification that said Harvie scored! from our POV it looked clear that Sweeney knocked into his own net
I've watched the video of the goal a few times now, and it's definitely Sweeney who diverts it into the net, Udoh not close to touching it. He would have scored if Sweeney hadn't touched it, and everyone, from both camps, would want him to have it, of course. This takes me back to John Williams and his phantom goal at Bournemouth, when he didn't touch the ball.
If the EFL Dubious Goals Committee rules it as an own goal, how does that leave the betting companies who have already paid out?
Initially I thought Udoh scored it but, after many, many replays, all I can see is the ball coming off Sweeney's boot, with Udoh a foot or two away. It's not clear, the keeper is in the way. This is the best still I can capture, not conclusive but the ball from that point flies into the net. It's actually clearer playing the video. It would help if I knew how to slow the video down, frame by frame.
I hope I am wrong, I really want Daniel to keep the goal, but I will always believe that you have to make contact with the ball to score a goal and that, for the integrity of the game, goals are credited correctly.
Parkin and Cheesewright were like Lev Yashin and Gordon Banks compared to Steve Crompton when we were in Conference (Jim Kelman era). The crowd gave John Granville a standing ovation when he came back.
Paired nicely with the instant karma of their keeper getting Fred booked unfairly, hoofing the ball downfield from the resulting free kick, only for it to come right back and be in his net within 19 seconds.
I couldn't attend and couldn't take a holiday to Vipienne so was relying on info from various sites that I was switching between. One initially said own goal then promptly changed to Udoh.... most.... randomly; initially gifted it to Dan Harvie 😅 then later changed it to Udoh....
I don't... for the record really care. 3 points... another win..... away from home also.... Good Times!
I wonder if it would be a bit of a hiding to nothing there, with them already adrift?
The one I have my eye on is Gillingham, as they have money but have lost five in a row under Mark Bonner after a good start. Are they going to show Couhig-level patience if things don't change? I can't help but feel that would be a good opportunity for GA to get promoted back into L1 with money behind him.
That being said, it would not surprise me if he is still working the foreign angle behind the scenes, based on nothing whatsoever. To me it feels like the next job is so important for his reputation, having seen both ends of the spectrum with Wycombe and QPR.
That angle reflects what I thought I saw too. Also the reaction of Udoh is to go congratulate Fred for the assist rather than to celebrate scoring which made my initial reaction "Own Goal".
Truth is that so long as the goal counts it only matters to the statisticians now. Unless you at a betting company, I suppose.
I'm sure @bluntphil will find time to ask Udoh if he did get the final touch or not?
Apparently they will deduct the money retroactively. I was advised by my brother who works in sports betting to withdraw my balance, and then when I go into negative balance as a result, they will likely put my balance back to zero as a gesture of goodwill given the low sum involved.
It was definitely an own goal. There's a video on the Facebook page showing this 100%, with no doubts whatsoever. I've screen recorded the video, which you can see at the link below:
I had drank quite a lot of alcohol before that Oxford away game, and only had hazy memories of the actual match. Basically just the goals, and JJ missing a penalty. I took two non-Wycombe friends along with me and they spent most of the way back talking about YMK's performance, which I hadn't even noticed was anything out of the ordinary...

I’ve watched the goal over and over again and still can’t work out whether Udoh touched it.
The goal was originally given by Press Association to Dan Harvie!

They were "Hard Times"
I can't work out how to post a new discussion.... Matt's on talksport shortly for anyone interested.
The Sky+ feed had a replay of the goal from a good angle, and it looked like Udoh got the final touch
what time was that?
This made me laugh!!! Brilliant.... just styled it out and handed it back 😅🤣
He was on at roughly 15.50ish

“They were the best of times, they were the worst of times” opening line of Dickens ‘A tale of two keepers’.
Whoever "officially" gets the goal, Sweeney scoring it is pure karma isn't it, when he should have been long gone off the pitch.
Interesting! I'm using this video on the club's Twitter, from Sky I think.

Looks like 'Wycombe are hardly world beaters...' is going to be the catchphrase of bemused losing teams this season.

What about Sieb Dykstra? Looked more of a pornstar than a keeper.

Wonder if GA would be interested in the vacancy.

Where’s that thread for wild predictions pre season and I had us as top scorers early on in the season??!!!
We are pro rata, but not quite top all in as Peterboro have 2 goals more. But from 2 games more.
Ahead of Posh on GPG!

Thanks, clear enough.
He did have a tremendous red card though. Lost his rag totally and chased a player in rage as I recall
