If we're talking a clean sheet and a hatful of goals, then maybe the 4-0 at home to Crawley when CMS scored a hat trick? I'd argue the 4-1 at Cambridge when Vokes scored twice in 2022 was also a battering, but we did concede.
Incorrect. That was 88/89. We've done it since then.
There are a couple of interesting things to note about that Stafford game. First, there were two hat-tricks that day – one from Mark West and the other from John Kerr.
And second, the previous league fixture was also against Stafford. A 1-1 draw at their place.
He spent an awfully long time in deep conversation with Andrew Howard on Tuesday night, looked like a professional chat rather than friends catching up. Totally opposite to Gareth who was in his element "working the room".
I'd love a good home battering. Not seen a proper one in years. Under GA we never really went out to completely dominate a team, and Bloomfield hasn't had the squad to do it yet.
As far as a prediction, we'll have a young, unheard of academy coach installed as our First Team manager by January.
Yes, I’m sure you’re right. The 4-1 game must have been the season when Vokes almost became that elusive 20 goals a season player.
Now there are two or three candidates for that achievement, provided they manage to avoid serious injury.
Matt Bloomfield is developing - arguably has already developed - a squad which is clearly capable of playing delightful football and scoring more goals than we’ve been accustomed to. That’s as daring a prediction as I’m prepared to make at this point.
Opening day of the season 2020/21 or was it 21/22 we were three up inside 30mins and it felt like we were going to get more, but it didn’t pan out. Nathan Bishop rumours were rife that day.
We beat Crewe 5-1 at home in a midweek game a few seasons back, with Kashket scoring twice. I can remember people taking picutres of the scoreboard in semi-disbelief that we were 5-0 up at one point.
Similar to the thrashing prediction (and possibly in the same game), I predict that someone will finally score a hattrick for us this season, breaking a five year drought since JJ against Lincoln.

There was a 5-0 away at Northampton with Stuart Roberts scoring 3, but that was 2003.
Must be something akin to that since?
I so want this to be true

The last time we scored 6 (six) in a league game was... quite a long time ago.
Without reaching for the record book, would anyone like to have a go at the answer?
And a bonus point if you can tell me the last time we scored six in a first team fixture.
Chesterfield away in the FA Cup in 2016 was 5-0
I guess 6 - 3 v Fleetwood in the play-offs doesn't count?
Stafford Rangers?
Cheese and Onion crisps to outsell Salt and Vinegar crisps in the Vere Suite
I seem to remember us putting 6 past Telford in the Conference but can't remember us ever doing it since joining the league.
I would say it counts. The first leg was 4-1 and they went down to ten. And they missed a penalty.

Riiiiiiiiight! 12 October 1991. 6-1.
But there is a first team fixture since then when we also scored six.
Technically, isn't it always a battering when we beat the Cod Army?
Col u? Bob lord trophy?
He's got it!
16 December 1991. We won 6-2 at Layer Road.
Interestingly, our previous game had also been at Layer Road. But let's not remind ourselves of that one.

We get highest points in history by any team not to make the play offs
Would Peterborough 5-2 last season count?
id say so.
Good shout actually, that did feel like a battering.
The best bit of that was seeing the Posh fans streaming out of the stand after our fourth goal went in, and then reading the meltdown on their forum.
Personally I’d say the Peterborough home game was more a case of self-flagellation than an old-fashioned bettering.
It was however very pleasing to watch.
Was that the game when Eze’s brilliant double eclipsed Vokes’ pair ?
Eze was here a few years before Vokes signed. I think that was a different 3-1 win.

Cambridge away a few years ago was when he scored the two worldies. Absolutely pelted it down afterwards.
Never need a second excuse to post this:
