Bringing back Dobbo to the club in some capacity would be a smart move. His knowledge and proven track record at both youth team and first team level is second to none. He ticks every box in the direction Wycombe are going.
Richard Thomas, I assume he is the assistant first team manager referenced. Think an analyst came along as well, but this looks to be a new role. Just expanding the staff I guess, nothing to be worried about in my opinion

Would love this, but if we were appointing Dobbo we would have just appointed him rather than advertised. The new guys don't seem the sentimental type, not that Dobbo would be a sentimental appointment but rather an excellent one.
We have money and an owner who has declared that youth is the future. Getting somebody who has won the World Cup at youth level would be an important statement of intent and might tempt some promising youngsters away from the bigger clubs in the area.
Now, I'm not saying Steve Cooper will be interested in moving from being a Premiership manager to being the youth coach at a League One but we could make him an offer he couldn't refuse. Millions of pounds plus some horses and eagles.
If Ainsworth had decided he's finished with management then maybe, but Dobbo is his right hand man.
Wonder where Ainsworth will pitch up next. While it's essential he picks the right job, you'd think he'd want to get a proper pre season somewhere and that all starts in a couple of weeks.

I was fascinated listening to Dobbo during / after the Championship season when he spoke about the investment we had made in the sports psychology side of the club and how Wycombe's compared to some of the most elite clubs in Europe. I wonder if this is still a thing. It certainly answered how we could get that little bit of extra out of players that some clubs had considered not that good. A combination of sports psychology and data driven coaching and management? What a time to be alive. We are talking marginal gains here people.
We have had 4 members of our coaching staff for a long time (Manager, Assistant Manager, GK Coach & Fitness Coach) and its about time that we started to expand the numbers to increase the specialism of our coaching. Matt was an excellent midfielder but was never an attacking threat nor was he a defender so it makes sense to get someone in with experience playing or coaching in one of those positions. I'm not sure if Richard Thomas has played professionally or if he's always been a coach.
Could this be a restructure in the coaching area to move Sam Grace away from the 1st Team so he can focus on the Development / U23 squads? If he has less involvement in the 1st team then this move makes more sense
While being the development guy is a good role, you probably can't beat the exposure of being properly involved with the first team and dare I say gaining a great experience from it.
