You're right! Turner was Everton wasn't he? Also played just a few games and also very good but it's Lonergan I was thinking of so we can swap him into the side
Surely one for another thread, such as most curious loanees.
Maybe Senior (?) From Brentford and Danny Rowe's Rotherham mate who must have been rated so appalling that even when we seemed to get by with a 15 man squad wasn't even afforded a few mins in off the bench.
Hey! You can't include players as definitive 'only played on loan for us' who might (I can dream/hallucinate) one day sign up with us (even if only another season on loan? Please?)
I moved in to a new house in Lower Earley in the summer of 2006, Scott turned out was one of my neighbours having purchased a new town house at the age of 18.
He was always getting visits from Leroy Lita in his huge Hummer along with Bikey and who I later worked out was Aaron Brown.
I had spoken in passing with Scott but he kept himself to himself and seemed a quiet lad compared to the other three.
Reading had just been setting records in the Championship and all the players seemed to be on a high over the summer with flash cars and high spirits on the huge Premiership salaries.
Low and behold Scott signed for us and went on to do pretty well IMHO.
The Brentford guy Senior was for development to be around a pro club. Presumably a favour to them when we had a good relationship. I suppose that is what a youth loan can be.
Danny Rowe's pal who ain't feel slightly rude not even remembering his name, was an odd case.
Seemingly Rotherham insisted on him coming too.
And then we never gave him even a few minutes, even though it was in our working miracles with a tiny budget and barely filling the bench days.
Surely he could have been trusted to play 10mins at the end of a game to take the load off someone?
I remember seeing a huge line for his autograph, so went and got Michael Mahoney Johnson's instead.
Quality decision that.
Although if there was a question of which player has scored the most similar 2 goals in a single game for Wycombe, he'd be a top shout, for the 2 in that 3-6 v Peterborough.
Williamson scored 2 very similar headers in another game.
I’d argue they were two very different goals, they just both ended up in the top corner! One an outside of the right foot half volley, one a curling left footed strike.
Agree they are different in the context of all goals in general, but narrowed down to a player scoring 2 goals in the same game then they must be up there.
For both he's lingering outside the box, ball comes back out, hit from almost the same blade of grass and ends up in the same top corner. Keeper at least makes half an effort to save the second.
I didn't see the Peterborough game referenced initially and can't find highlights so interested if those 2 goals were more similar.
I saw one of Eze's goals the other day, would have to remind myself what the other one looked like.
Mahoney Johnson's stick in my memory because of the previous autograph and that he scored the double in such a terrible sackworthy for the manager game.
Like when Harrold scored 2 away at Norwich in that 5-2 smashfest defeat.

Wasn't it Andy Lonergan?

At least I picked Peter Garland
first name on the team sheet.
Get a room!
What a player Garland was - used to do the backspin throw of the ball down for free kicks so sadly missing from the game now.
Good shout, he was superb that season and looked destined for a career way above our level.
Why would they make your team?

How the hell are you including Golbourne in this list?! He was good here.
I thought Frank Fielding was decent when he was with us for a season and his career didn't go too badly

I still harbour hopes of Dion Dublin's return....

It was definitely sarcasm. I was genuinely wondering why over the years we’ve signed players on loan who didn’t play a single minute.
Fair enough.

Walker, I think. Can’t remember his first name. Couldn’t even tell you what position he played!
Suspect he has spent his career in the non-leagues or out of the game altogether.
Forgot Sam Parkin!!!!!
He's in ahead Luke Moore
On penalty duty
You're right, Nicky Walker. And yes, dropped down a few levels.
Just seemed really strange how bare we were for numbers that season yet he'd still not get a kick even if we were 2-0 up or down late on.
Ray Wilkins deserves a spot if it is on total career, but not for the one game he played for us.
The poor fella stood in the centre circle for most of the match whilst the ball flew back and forth over his head.
Ray Wilkins wasn’t a loan. He just signed on a one match deal to help his mate, Alan Smith, the manager out a bit.
I remember seeing a huge line for his autograph, so went and got Michael Mahoney Johnson's instead.

So he was! Well remembered.
More similar than the 2 Eze scored against Cambridge?
And presumeably excluding penalties, before any smart arses suggest that!
Oh what about Richard Walker on loan from Villa back in the day? Has he been mentioned?
I’d argue they were two very different goals, they just both ended up in the top corner! One an outside of the right foot half volley, one a curling left footed strike.
Remember Sanchez's salty "we'd have signed him if I'd really wanted him" comment later on.

Good point on the pens.

No Eze?
Oh FFS...
Eze for Trotta
