So much of everything has been grey over the last decade or so. In future times it will be synonymous with the late 10s/early 20s, in much the same way as brown has become with the 1970s.
I work for a company that sponsored one of the league cups, they gave up after a few years for this reason. Everybody calls it their favourite or first sponsor and nobody called it what they were paying for.
I think we can all agree the top league is always the Barclays, briefly the Premiership but L1-4 followed by the Vauxhall Conference. The FA Cup is untouchable at 3pm on a Saturday and that leaves the Milk cup, the LDV and the Charity shield.

I suppose if nothing else, it makes sense to no longer have the affinity to purple (because of New Orleans/Mardi Gras) in the post-Couhig era.
And maybe it’s a colour that our new moneyman likes.

That grey keeper kit is horrible.
Yep, don't like those new keeper shirts sorry. Got to be the worst colour you could think of
I can't make my mind up.... kinda looks smart..... but just not very goalkeepery
It’s even worse than the green Sunday League goalie tops we had from Pro-Star. And that’s saying something. But in the grand scheme of things…
Look decent to me. We don’t need novelty every season.

Personally, I hate the colour.
I don't think it's as black & white as that, but I get where you're coming from.
A couple of interesting shirts I have seen recently..
Flint Mountian FC who I saw the night before Wrexham had mountains stylised into their shirt
And our old Conference rivals Northwich Victoria released this number to coincide with the town's Pina Colada festival
Northwich should wear those for the rest of the season as soon as they reach midtable security.
If they like Pina Coladas and gettin' caught in the rain
10/10
That second one took me by surprise, be good to wear it in the Pizza cup given it features pineapples!
Do they play in that competition? Probably not.
Should count as an immediate disqualification from the pizza cup as pineapples have no business being anywhere near a pizza. Competition or otherwise.
Is this pizza cup thing similar to the premiership? Calling something a name it hasn't been for ages?
Or some kind of in joke?
I genuinely can't even remember who the current sponsor is. I still call it the Checkatrade sometimes!
Bristol Street Motors.
Thankfully they weren't called Bristol District Street Motors
Ah cheers! It all comes flooding back now!
I always wondered what sort of individuals would travel 100s of miles for an away midweeker in this cup.
Now they've messed with the format and brought in the U21 teams, it's the same wonderment, times 10!
Will always be the pizza cup to me
It’s the LDV vans trophy!
That's what I'll always think of it as.
Probably because that seems the most bootleg of all the sponsors.
Although pedant point, surely the V stands for Vans?
Nice pedantry. I wish you were my boss! ;)
We have a similar one at work where people say the acronym but for some reason also say what the 3rd letter stands for after!
It was called the LDV vans trophy though
Don't spoil everyone's fun the whole time , let us live man.
Not an acronym either
The national league is still the Vauxhall conference, or simply just “the conference” in my eyes.
Which means I still need a second or two when they say the Conference League in respect to European football.
Likewise the Diadora and Beezer Homes leagues.
