Feels like a big game for Bloomfield today. After the draw last week a win today looks like we could be getting back on track, a loss and I worry that the 'crowd' will be on his back at full time. (Cue an Uche 90+7 winner...)
If we don’t win today I think that would be 10 league games without a win. I can’t recall how long ago we went on such a run. MB will certainly be under pressure if we don’t win.
yep, obviously I hope we do well in any game (duh) but this one, as a game against a team with a level of bottom-half mediocrity similar to ourselves, has to be seen as very winnable.
And the longer the winless spell continues, the worse it is for MB.
If we can perform the way we did against Derby, but actually (gasp) convert a chance from open play, we should be OK.
I understand that Port Vale are quite similar to us, lots of ponderous passing build-up but then general failure to score - plus giving away sloppy goals at the other end.
So sounds like it's very much a case of the resistable force meeting the movable object.
Celebrating player injuries is a sad road, but apparently their star loanee, Arblaster, did his knee on Tuesday in the cup, so is unlikely to feature.
This quote from a PVFC fan amused me...sound familiar?
"Doubt there’ll be many there for our game at least in the away end. Been a really expensive month and to be honest with the exception of the Wigan game the football is really drab. The manager / DOF etc can quote all the XG and ‘box entries’ whatever the fuck that is meant to indicate but people know what they can see with their own eyes and it’s really draining the enthusiasm."
Will be interesting to compare fitness if Uche and Lyle if both play some part.
An out of form Uche is clearly not something to worry too much about, it's not as if he ever scored bangers from miles out after barely being involved...

Spring 2019 - 12 games
Had to remind myself of the context of that. We'd been promoted the season before so staying up was a big deal.

I go hoping for a win and I will worry about what it means for Matt after the game.
I hope Jack Grimmer is fit after hobbling off last week. As I’m not sure a back four that has Boyes and KVY as full-backs is going to cut it.
Hard to believe that right back is a problem area given the options we now have in that position but not much good if they’ll all injured.
Uche is definitely going to score, so can we score twice? I’m not confident
Having gone the last 30 games without scoring, today his hat trick is NAILED ON

Exciting 6-point relegation battle in store today.
I have good vibes about today. I hope I'm right !
Equalise before they score
Good line up. 4-2-3-1 again with Vokes in for Lyle Taylor. Good to see Grimmer fit.
Taff not in match day squad. Played friendly Monday. Dropped?
4231/433. Thank goodness. Hopefully today's the day we turn things around. Similar performance to Derby and I think we'll win. COYB!
Grimmer being fit is excellent news, not least of course because (I sincerely hope) it means four at the back.
I’m confident that we’ll win today.
Least of our worries.
Probably no point having Taff and Keogh on the bench, so it’s one or the other.
Fear not! Said Matt (for mighty dread had seized some bedwetters minds) 'Sam Vokes from Wales is playing today' and eased their troubled minds
Uche out ill apparently
I like the line up, with a good start to settle nerves..
First team to score wins
Golden goal then?
Any goal is golden nowadays. Vale forum is very unhappy with their starting 11.
Hopefully we've seen the last of a back 5, we can push on and ignite the season again ! Come on you blues !

Listening to the iconic John Shuttleworth pre game .
Ooof!
