Is it me or are we playing a lot better? This formation change is a master stroke. It allows us to get more players into the attack, it allows us to press, it’s improved the tempo. Who would have thought ?
I still think this is a free hit in a way - you'd still expect a win to be hard to come by - but I think we all wanted to see an improved performance we can carry into future games, and we are getting it so far. We are still not testing the Derby keeper, but some dangerous looking build up play, and very solid at the back. And we are away to a contender, so this is hardly a game we would expect to dominate.
So much better. Even if we ultimately lose today we’ve made so much progress just by making the switch in formation.
We look better at the back and going forward.
All we really need is a decent number 9, as the 3 behind of Sadlier, Phillips and McCleary look good and no-ones going to complain about a 2 of Scowen and Leahy.
We're looking solid, Sadlier showing some quality as others have already noted, flashes of inspiration from GMac, Phillips and Boyes also.
I think this is probably as good as we could have hoped for given the poor run (and I mean that as a compliment, not faint praise).
On this evidence, I don't think L Taylor is really cut out to play the lone striker role, but he has had very little to work with in the way of service - no change there then.
I do get the feeling though, that he's very much the type to relish winding up the Derby fans if he were to get on the end of something, given all the stick he's been taking for being ex-Forest.
L Taylor has worked hard today, but is still not quite sharp enough with some poor decisions & over/under hit passes. A bit more fitness/sharpness & he might just be the difference we are needing.
After 18 months with no football it’s not unreasonable to think he’s done. I’ve seen very little threat between his debut and today. Endeavour maybe but I am not sure I can recall a shot on target in his Wycombe career.

yep agree
My Derby supporting colleagues are bombarding me with messages that mainly feature the word cheat!

Tell them that'd be akin to Man City fans querying legitimacy of financial dealings.
Superb move on stroke of half time.
Scowen looks more like his top end self as well. Not having to charge forward which isn't his strength.
Much much much better
Taylor stand the f**k up man. Jeeez. Embarrassing
Derby feeling very sorry for themselves that they haven't just had to turn up to pick up a win
“Why aren’t your players letting us cheat? We’re used to cheating and getting away with it.”
Lèse majesté. Phil cut off in mid sentence!
So much better with four at the back, and ironically Boyes has been effective in attack in this formation.

It feels very Barnsley away at the moment.
A much improved performance away to one of the better teams, albeit without particularly looking like scoring, after a miserable home defeat.
Hopefully we follow this on, with no last min shenanigans.

I would like to see Vokes for Taylor early second half.
Yeah, whatever happens 2nd half I have a bit more hope for next week’s game. Far better.
Agreed
So pleased that 1) Blooms switched formations and 2) it’s working so far
Taylor is still waaaaay off it.

He’s getting there slowly. Probably due for a change soon.
Fantastic stop from Max
Good save from Max.
Good game overall from us so far, the formation change has made a huge difference
Oh no - back to a back three.
With Keystone Keogh too.
Low back to his imperious best. Let’s see how he gets on with the switch to 5
