I think had Dobbo not gone he would possibly have been our manager at least until the end of the season if not beyond. They are all grown men and I assume have been as involved as he has been in last season, and this closed season, not just standing there watching looking sad as nasty Uncle Gareth forced them to give up their warm homes for disaster. I agree @Shev that he'll find another berth, like the Imps or Vale. Not so sure the bright lights of Blackburn would be so appealing now though.
I read a few comments from Port Vale fans on twitter at the weekend hoping that if/when he gets the sack that he'll end up going to them. Think he's got a bit of a cult following there also.

It is very rare that a return to previous stamping grounds necessarily brings the same level of success. I wish GA all the best and am sure he will get himself a decent L1/L2 berth. I just hope he does not end up bouncing around from one short term Championship disaster to another.

For sure, and it took me a while to really accept Gaz and Dobbo were gone, but you can drive yourself crazy with all the what ifs.
