Gotta get the dinner/tea on and try to draw a veil over disappointment in one of the very few areas of life where hope had continued to spring (albeit somewhat arthritically and obviously not eternally).
Any opportunity for the one man anti-Vokes campaign!
I will counter with you whether you thought Hanlan made any difference in the first 55 minutes? Since MB took over we have generally looked toothless in attack in almost every game. Whether this is down to injuries, a lack of bite, change of playing style etc I don't know - it isn't my job to work that out. To blame Vokes when he has just come back from a month out to suit an agenda is a little childish.
You can’t blame Matt Bloomfield. He started with the only fit striker we had, a shame he’s not a striker either by form or stats he’s a …. wide player?
Vokes was massively off it and GMac was hardly firing. And we probably shouldn’t be calling on them until they are fully fit. But needs must. We can defend and build all day long but without a striker capable of … scoring we won’t win games and we won’t progress.
The managerial change didn’t give MB a chance to change his squad so it’s not his hand to play. Give him 2 windows and see where we are
For those without twitter, we have not won a single game all season where we have had equal or more possession than the opposition. Doesn't bode well for the final 4 games when that is clearly the game plan that we are trying to implement more and more.
Oh dear. Went out. Came back and checked scores. My natural optimism means I refuse to give in yet...but what a disappointment. I blame Thompson and Vokes. (I must admit I thought even facing relegation fodder with Hanlan toiling up front was risky.)
Unfortunately even I think that is it now. We had to take a minimum of 7 points from MK, FGR and Morecambe. We came out with 4.
A very very small part of me is relieved that we can now stop pretending we should be in the Championship. We are so far off the levels of Ipswich and Sheff Wed in particular and there's a strong chance that one of them may not even make it.
A brave attempt given everything that has derailed our season. Onto the next one. In MB we trust.
It'll definitely take a fair amount of time to change a long term style. Successfully that is, clearly we've changed the style immediately, and we can see the early results - not winning 2 in a row, despite facing some pony outfits.
I think that just about keeps the season alive. We're 5 points off PBoro, who have Ipswich and Barnsley in their last 4, and play relegation threatened Accy away next.
Obviously probably zero consequence to us, as we've arguably looked very likely to win just twice in the Bloomy era (BRovers and Forest Green), so it's incredibly hard to see us putting in a 4 game win run.
I for one was delighted to hear Kevin Couhig on commentary. With analysis like "the notion that no-one has scored yet has really helped them keep their belief" on 70 minutes we were privileged to bear witness to analysis both perspicacious and extraordinarily astute.
It also means that the Couhigs have been able to tick another thing off their bucket list before buggering off over the summer.
As for the match - when chasing a "must win" match, why bring an unfit Curtis Thompson on for a sparky forward? I'm very happy to give Matt Bloomfield the benefit of the doubt at the moment but I really can't get my head around that one.
Connor Ripley is some goalkeeper - both times we've played Morecambe he's really impressed me. If they go down I'd love to see us sign him.
A win today would have changed everything massively. This is our level. A few new faces and hold onto Vokes and GMac and I'm confident in next season with the players we have.
Comments
We lost our legendary manager. We lost the best attacker in the league. We lost the best defender in the league.
That's fairly big events to totally derail a season.
The Bloomfield effect
Get Vokes to stay and bring in Alfie May. Sign Weir on loan.
I'd be slightly worried about our financial state if we manage to sign Alfie May...
Doddy?
Well you can dream. Dreams are free unless the Couhigs have found a way to charge for them.
Feels like only yesterday we were talking about how favourable our run-in was with games against the likes of MK and Morecambe…
A reminder if we needed it that league one is anything but predictable.
It was always going to be a huge ask to step in and keep the finely tuned, very specifically arranged machine going as well.
How Gaz even had us on that great winning run having lost Mehmeti and Mawson I do not know.
I would like to slap around all those fans that constantly, absolutely constantly whinged about Gareth's "style", otherwise known as "winning" style.
Sorry, that’s not even funny.

Alfie May is being linked with Wrexham. We couldn't compete with one third of the wages they will offer him.
When you're quoting your own posts, it's definitely time to step away from the interweb.
Did you feel that Vokes was really making a difference for the 40 minutes he was on @Brownie ?
He probably did more in 40 mins than Hanlan has last 3 games

Thompson looked woefully off it didn't he?
With all due respect to him, he looked like a gasroomer tugging away to cynically catch and foul his man for a yellow, and looked well, well off it.

He just needs time to get match fit surely.

Tommo that is!
Wasn’t able to watch but going by the stats can I assume, good passing but almost no goal threat?

12 points from our last 11 games... I'm logging off for the evening!

Yep plus a tactical masterpiece from Morecambe who went all out in the last 15.
Didn't realise that Derby drew!
Yep, only just clocked that myself.

Even if it's League One football next term, its not League Two football and too early yet to for me to say we will be crap next season.
