Welcome back to all those who have forecast. I am sure that after we have all enjoyed the weather this afternoon someone will start a thread about League matches in July.
It is just over 5 hours to deadline for the Match 1 'Predict the crowd' competition - Entries close at 2pm, (just in case anyone is really good at quick counting or has an app that does it!)
So far 28 predictions and we say -
Average for Total Crowd: 4851
Average for Away Crowd 219
Anyone can make a prediction. Here is the standard gentle reminder for those who gave it a good go last season - I know will have to work on understanding the new formatting.
Looked like over 1,000 school tickets in the away end? Maybe free tickets for the kids from the WWSET summer holiday training programmes? Add that to the season tickets and on the day home fans for a 'near record' home turn out on an opening day.
The first game of the season did prove to be hard to predict, almost certainly for the reason put forward by @Forest_Blue. Nobody was very close, @robin was close and is the season's first Attendance Forecaster of the Week.
However one side of the 'Away' Stand was populated by giveaways, which seems likely as I didn't see anything to indicate those seats were on sale at any time, then in my opinion it was a smart move. I would think seeing three quality goals at close quarters will result in a good few being in the ground in a fortnight's time.
Here are the top ten forecasts for the Burton home game:

5772! An extraordinary turn out!
I can’t believe that’s correct with a small contingent from Burton and a load of people on holiday.
Amazing if true👏🏻
And the train strike fair play to all that made it today.

Is that our first ever competitive home match in July?
Think we played Fleetwood play off during covid in July - first home competitive win in July though I guess

I heard local teachers were offered tickets at £2 to go with the free tickets for kids
