  • Usually the MOTM decision is pretty clear cut or there may be two or three contenders. Even when I’m in the ‘did not see’ category I often make my choice based on the impression I get from @bluntphil’s excellent commentary. Not today. That was an extraordinary performance. When I saw the lineup I thought we might scrape a couple of goals and win 2-1. When we conceded in the third minute I thought we would struggle and it was a wonderful feeling when, totally out of the blue, we scored three goals in quick succession.

What followed in the second half was reminiscent (but not on quite the same scale or with the same outcome) as that game against Aston Villa under John Gorman in the League Cup in 2005 when we led 3-1 at half time and continued to attack in the second half rather than shut up shot as, with the benefit of hindsight, we probably should have done on both occasions.

Alfie May for me, closely followed by Nick Freeman. I look forward with interest to see who eventually edges it.

    Contender for POTD!

  • I actually wonder how much RC is going to have to pay Alfie May to buy us back.

  • If that Alfie May doesn't win player of the tournament, I don't know what...three cheers for May...Hip hip!

  • @eric_plant the Stevenage goalie was their man of the match yesterday...
