Overall "King of the Predictions" contest
I sense this might have all the impact of the Papa Johns but I have started it now. In true Mastermind fashion I must finish it.

@our_frank positions in the tables for both the attendance and score prediction competition remain unchanged and he continues to be overall king of the predictors.
@DJWYC14 has improved 13 places from 20th to 7th in the score prediction contest and moves into a challenging second place.
@railwaysteve is continuing to leave his run to inevitable glory to late in the season....
Its a triumph for age and experience in the overall tipster competition. @Micra has climbed six places in each of the attendance and score prediction contests to now lie 10th and 4th respectively. 10+4 = 14 and an eight place overall lead over good score predictor rubbish attendance predictor @SmiroludyBlue and ten over former leader good attendance predictor crap attendance predictor @our_frank.
Lets be honest though, no one really cares......

This is your most important work and me, @micra and @SmiroludyBlue are all keenly interested in lifting a trophy as massive as the European Super Cup come the end of the season on that virtual open-top bus ride round the Gasroom. Though admittedly at that point, at least two of us will consider it a complete waste of time.

Outside the top ten in both score and attendence, I am nonetheless fourth here - suggesting that this is a competition that rewards consistent mediocrity over excellence. Some may say that the fact that I am currently in a mediocre position in a table rewarding mediocrity sums life up rather well......

At the end of February, things get tight at the top of the overall tipster competition.
Score prediction leader @SmiroludyBlue has moved up in the attendance predictor and now leads this jointly with @our_frank. @our_frank has missed predictions recently - I hope he is OK. @micra drops to thyird but only one point behind.
thanks for doing this, @DevC - it's very good of you to keep it up. And thank you for your concern. I am absolutely fine - just busy with other stuff. I hope to resume my unexpected, early-season table-topping form in the coming weeks, but am not getting my hopes up.
For some reason, @DevC, I’ve not noticed this thread until a couple of days ago. Needless to say I was gobsmacked to see my name at the top (1 February) and @SmiroludyBlue second. A right royal couple!

To be fair to @DevC - the description of 'rubbish attendance predictor' is pretty spot on and I have no issue with that at all (but I appreciate the back up). It actually made me smile as I use a similar description about my predictions too!
Recent form is either a fluke or maybe I'm just getting the hang of it better.

For some reason, I only spotted this thread a few days ago. Not keen on ‘King’ but can’t think of a snappy alternative at present. I think @DevC attempted to explain some months ago how the points are arrived at (which suggests that I had seen the thread before) but, ironically for someone who’s usually at home with figures, I couldn’t fathom it (and still can’t!). Best left that way, I think.
You will not @micra that I described @SmiroludyBlue as just a "rubbish" attendance predictor while describing @our_frank as a "crap" score predictor. Let it be noted that the age of chivalry is not completely dead....
"Points" simply adds placing in league in each competition (first in one and tenth in the other means eleven "points")

Confess I felt nervous (for a split second) when I read “You will not @micra ……”. I thought it was going to be another command from on high like @Wendoverman’s yesterday.
Can't believe it is April already.
Not sure @railwaysteve posted the update to his attendance prediction after last game but as few were close I doubt if the table moved much.
So here is the latest in the combined table - with just two months and seven games to go.
@micra has improved four places in the attendance table and that and consistency in the score league pushes him into a strong lead here. @our_frank nudges into second place and with @SmiroludyBlue having wrapped up the scoreleague title, a few decent attendances could yet see here do an unprecedented double by winning this too.

With just four games left, I thought I would update the combined predictions contest table - not least because I have improved......
@micra still leads with a good gap for what would I suspect be a popular win.

Bloody hell....my time in the top half of the table seems to be a distant memory now. I did not realise how badly I had fallen away!

I try really really hard not to look at this thread for reasons and now look what has happened.
@railwaybeth had an idea for an 'over the summer competition' once the fixture list is out, so as people don't go crazy with boredom.
The competition would be predict the games with the highest attendence during the season to come. The competition would be closed to new entries once the season started and it would produce results over the whole season and a winner(s) at the end of the season. @railwaybeth said she could run it or she could volunteer me to run it.
Question (for @DevC) - will it count in any supreme forecasting competition.
Question (for everyone) - what you think to 12 points for the getting the highest attendence in the first five home games, 12 points for the highest in 2nd five , 12 points for the next five games. 12 points for the last 3. Points shared if more than one person wins. Fractions of points rounded to nearest integer, half a point goes up.
25 points for the highest overall correctly predicted at start of season - same rules about splitting points.
I reckon it should work. Would have rules about postponed games retaining their place in their orignal five.
It would be great to get @railwaybeth on board, Steve.
No reason not to include it and any other competitions people want to run in the cumulative.
