I think Wycombe fans turning on Blooms makes me sadder than Rice being against him from the word go. At least Rice was consistent, and was not pretending to love him as a human being the week before.
Another annoying thing about today is that we could have helped Shrewsbury and didn't. They conceded an injury time goal and are back to bottom, 7 adrift, but have been well in every game lately, win lose or draw. A very tough run of matches, so they need to win one or two against the odds and avoid getting cut adrift until the fixtures become more forgiving.
They do seem to have a thing about Michael Oliver in particular…
However, this went to VAR and didn’t even get overturned. Really no point having VAR if it can’t overturn a red card for a cynical trip 80 yards from goal and a million miles from being dangerous. Serious foul play, my arse.
If this was an office forum I'd recommend we checked the air con was working and the lights are at the right level, and probably host the next team meeting in the pub, everyone seems to have turned it to right grumpy gits. Regardless of their opinions.
To be fair, NEVER should at least be spelt correctly. Shocking levels of grumpiness. Can’t believe I’m ok with a Wycombe point, but upset over a red card for Arsenal, who I don’t give a fig about. What’s going on??
I'm genuinely not doing this just to be a wind up merchant but can no-one else see that he first makes contact with the Wolves player with his studs halfway up the inside of his lower leg?
I can easily see why it was given as a red card. Think a lot of people are getting persuaded by the hyperbolic punditry that seems to be surrounding it
I must admit I thought it was a fairly reckless tackle and although I probably think (although have no idea of anything that could have lent context to the decision) it should have been a yellow. I am also not sure it was a clear and obvious error.
I think if VAR had asked the ref to look at it again he may well have stuck to his original decision.
To be fair, Michael Oliver has given eight Arsenal red cards and one Liverpool red card in a similar amount of games reffed for both, and I think the nearest to Arsenal is Forest with three. If you are an Arsenal fan that does look suspicious (my best friend is a STH so I get the secondhand perspective), especially when they do get the law suddenly enforced to the letter (second yellow for barely tapping the ball away when others don't usually even get a first yellow for hoofing it away).
Someone said that most of the PL refs are from the northwest (and I mean, the vast majority), which, though it cannot be helped if that is just how things have shaken out, is not a good look either.
Agreed. Studs clearly into calf and then rakes down his ankle.
Whilst the contact was “light” because the player was moving rapidly, if he’d been more stationary that would have been nasty.
i think we need a sin bin for that type of professional foul to stop people breaking forward. If that had been a trip without the studs, I’d like to see 15 minute sin bin.
Tend to agree, people get sent off for miss-timing tackles when it's deemed reckless so it seems silly to then excuse with a yellow hundreds of blatant "professional" lunges that never intend to get the ball and could cause all sorts of injuries.

I hope he has a long and successful career but wouldn't mind if that stalled for a bit...

Nothing to do with Luton
Just seen the Lewis-Skelly red card for Arsenal. I'm really struggling with how that's not just a yellow? Bizarre.
And a decision like that adds fuel to the fire for the deranged Arsenal fans and their paranoia that all refs are out to get them

Did seem harsh .
And not for the first time the VAR gang seemingly scared to overturn an Oliver decision that was clearly harsh.
I could ask why are Arsenal players still tripping people up like that out of absolute danger when they've had 3 red cards for it but VAR is garbage.
Ask them then…
I have no interest in Arsenal, but that was NEVR a red card.
Yeah, I'll do that next time I see them.

The last replay on here. You can actually see the Wolves player's shinpad being displaced by the contact

(And it is Arsenal so also quite funny)

It's extremely funny, not that it takes much to set Arteta off

Everything looks worse in superslowmo. Anyway, as others have said, who gives a sh*t? it’s Arsenal.
Ohh Spurs, never change
Michael Oliver is from the North East - I think he's a Newcastle fan
Yes, I should have said the highest percentage of the PL referees by region are from the northwest, sorry.
I looked it up, and I think that last season there was only ONE PL ref from the south of England.
One is from Australia tbf - can't get much more southern than that!
Touche! I think he is one of the better ones, too. I remember him at our level when he had just come over.
Confusingly, Palace now have Esse and Eze
The problem with most fans is that they remember the decisions their club has had against them, but overlook the ones they've got away with.

Portsmouth have a scout called Sonny Morgan, I wonder if he likes Eze.
