To me he cuckooed himself into the job. Player coach, and then manager. He continued to do all his outside interests even when results were utter rubbish. How committed was he to doing a really hard job with players who no doubt were not of the standard he believed he was used to deal with.
His outburst at the weekend was terrible. He has every right to blast a team in public. He has less of a right to name and shame one particular player. There is no coming back from that.
He may find out that coaching is not for him. It is something you have to dedicate yourself to. It is something that maybe means not seeing your celeb mates for a while until you have earned your stripes. No ex player is entitled to a coaching role or a pundit role on name alone, you have to be good at the job.
BBC Scotland (iPlayer/Sport online) are showing two Scottish Cup Fourth Round ties.
Tonight, Clyde v Aberdeen at 19:45. Clyde are bottom of Division Two, five points from safety.
Saturday at 12:15, Spartans v Hearts. A keenly anticipated local derby with Spartans playing in their first season in Division Two, after winning promotion from the Lowland League last season. Hearts 'B' play their Lowland League matches at Spartans' Ainslie Park ground.
BBC Northern Ireland (iPlayer/Sport online) are showing Glenavon v Glentoran tonight at 19:45, 6th v 4th in the NI Premiership.
Awful news coming out of Nuneaton Borough yesterday. Sadly, this will continue to happen at that level over the coming seasons as more and more teams struggle.
Real Madrid currently blowing the chance to go top of La Liga by losing 3-1 at home to rock-bottom Almeria, who haven't won a single game all season. Potentially hands the initiative to Girona, who would be a surprise champion even if they are financed by the City Group.
Conor Bradley continues to impress after slotting silkily into the position occupied by Trent Alexander-Arnold until his recent injury. There’s even talk of him becoming Northern Ireland’s highest-prophile player since George Best. High praise indeed.
So Ivory Coast sacked their manager during AFCON and are reportedly trying to get the French women's manager, Herve Renard, on loan for the rest of the tournament

Did somebody say fireworks?
Notts County have hired Wealdstones very talented management team
6 games for Deeney!
That's shocking even these days to be dismissed so soon.
I only remembered he was there when seeing a clip of him using "experience" as a presumably late sub to waste time in the corner for a minute late on.
Hadn't clocked he was manager on top.

He should stick to the podcasts where he hypes his ability up to hilarious levels
Some live matches on BBC this weekend.

If he was made of chocolate he would lick himself to death!
It's a little amusing that Deeney played for Watford. He probably thinks he just had a long tenure at Forest Green!

And I've jinxed it - the third goal just got chalked off by VAR
And now it's 2-2 😂
Matt Taylor sacked by Shrewsbury after a poor run of form.
Conor Bradley continues to impress after slotting silkily into the position occupied by Trent Alexander-Arnold until his recent injury. There’s even talk of him becoming Northern Ireland’s highest-prophile player since George Best. High praise indeed.
Reading get a suspended 3 point deduction then, to be activated if they get another game called off.
Slightly generous? And does it give a precedent to other club's fans to get a game called off if the game isn't going as they'd like?
So Port Vale and their supporters get no recompense for their financial losses
Port Vale completely put out by it.
Although I don't think you can award them 3 points for 0-0m at 16mins.
If it was 3-0 at 80 mins it'd be hard to deny them it.
Wimbledon 3-1 down at MK and get two players straight red-carded in the space of nine minutes. Just kicking lumps out of them now, I guess.
Big shock as Algeria, the fourth highest-ranked team in AFCON, go out without winning a game
There's no shocks in African football........
Michael Appleton sacked by Charlton.
30 points. 4 points off the drop. unlik.......oh
A live look-in at someone sacking a ton of apples...
So Ivory Coast sacked their manager during AFCON and are reportedly trying to get the French women's manager, Herve Renard, on loan for the rest of the tournament
It would be hilarious if they went and won the whole thing.
Apparently this guy plays for Fleetwood…
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix_Patterson
and was not only born in HW but was on our books as a yoof.
So technically, Fleetwood have not one, but two chances at the “former player” scoring curse on Saturday (if you include Harry Boyes).
Maidstone 2-1 up at Ipswich having had two shots to the hosts' 28
It’s a fantastic cup tie.
The scoreline should tell us that there is no such thing as a certainty in football
Incredible goalmouth scramble just then
