  • Pleased to see I’ve woken everyone up from their afternoon naps. It would be a pointless forum if everyone had similar views , even if as @mooneyman has pointed out they are minority ones.

  • Your views are welcome as far as I am concerned @davecz , just in this case IMHO wrong.

  • I hope he does sign for one more year. I’d be delighted to get to watch him play in real life again, not just on the TV.

I reckon Bayo would be fantastic on 'Strictly Come Dancing', after he has given us one more year. He would be excellent as Aladdin, with spot on timing.

  • I like having @davecz on board. I don't always agree, but that's part of the fun. Renew his contract!

Even it’s only for minority views !!! Thanks@Shev and @ DevC

  • I disagree with @davecz a lot...but we are allowed to disagree and I suspect he quite enjoys being the heroic lone voice of reason...

I think he would make a brilliant Doctor Who.

  • I can see Bayo getting into movies and Hollywood initially trying to put him in Vinnie Jones type "bad boy" roles, only for everyone to realize he is just too loveable, and him pinching roles off the Rock instead.

The next Hobbs and Shaw outing is the perfect project for him. The Rock, The Stath and The Legend.

Ans as for next season, if he can deliver like last night then absolutely. I would argue against him being the player we build the team around (always a risk whoever they are) but the super sub role, the finisher, the push us over the line player? I think so.

  • Could not agree more, @Manboobs. If we can keep him at the club in any capacity, it will benefit Wycombe Wanderers as well as being a joy to all of us.

It'd be a huge shame for Bayo to retire after a season with no crowds (bar those 2 games some of us got in for).

If he's talking about staying on another year, I can't see any logic in him playing that one year elsewhere. Continuing the role he's had here the last few months seems perfect. The occasional start, and then coming on late-ish when we really do need something different.

  • So using the same logic@glasshalffull , do you advocate letting Blooms decide when to retire? Decisions have to be made with the head , not the heart, when as you always remind us of ,our limited financial resources.

Agreed we can't offer players deals purely on sentiment although hopefully the heart does have some role in our decision making. But I'm sure both Gareth and Bayo would only agree to a new deal if it's in everyone's interest. Personally I hope Bayo and Matt here next year.

  • Blooms has clearly taken the decision that his playing days are now limited, Bayo isn’t yet at that stage. I agree that sentiment shouldn’t come into it, but I believe that Bayo still has plenty to offer as a player. Others may disagree.

  • I think the idea is if Gareth still thinks he can do a job and offers him a deal it will be Bayo who decides to take it or not. If GA does offer him a deal he may decide to stay. Nothing to do with sentiment as I do not believe Gareth works that way as the in and outs of former favourites this season has shown.

  • @HolmerBlue 'Jumping onto someone' (!) Slight caressing I would say.

  • IMHO Bayo still has lots to offer. It might not be 90 minutes Saturday-Tuesday but as an impact sub you won’t get many defenders who will be thrilled to see him come on at 75 minutes.

  • Ironically if a miracle does happen and we stay in the Championship it probably would mean that Bayo hung up his boots or left. I can see him sticking around and having fun next season at League One level (and would welcome it) but if we were still in the Championship at 39 that may be a struggle not worth having for him.

I hear they are looking for a new James Bond ?

  • I'm sure I saw an interview with him where he strongly hinted he would play for one more year before joining the WWE

  • I really think the WWE stuff is all just hype to keep his name in the media spotlight.

It might be fake, but its extremely specialised and athletic. Most wrestlers retire at around 40-45 due to injuries.

I could see him having a cameo but I'd bet my house he never becomes a pro wrestler.

Bayo done an interview with Give Me Sport:

"I don't want to be a manager, I don't want to be a coach. I've given two decades to football. I'm 39 next month. I'm at the transitional stage.

"Exclusive out here, I think I'm going to play on one more year. Then look, you know what, it's funny. We're talking to a couple of producers in LA, there's a couple of movie projects.

"Then also, there are also talks with WWE. I reckon I'd be a good wrestler. I've always been able to live my life where nobody has put me in a box, so that's how it is, I'm excited for the future."

The ‘one more year’ comment - you have to feel he will be offered another year at Wycombe as opposed to elsewhere?

It was in this thread @Username !

Most are hitting their peak around 35-38. Over 50% of the wrestlers on the most recent Wrestlemania, earlier this month were over 38. Current WWE Champion is 44. Plenty of history of strong men with limited athleticism playing a role. He's also got the gift of the gab, which goes a long way.

The main thing which makes me think it won't happen is that he would have to spend a hell of a lot of time away from his family for long periods of time, which doesn't strike me as the kind of thing he'd want to do.

  • I thought @micra had got his measuring stick out some time ago and confirmed Bayo was only 5ft 11in!

  • I did.

  • There's no way in hell Bayo becomes a wrestler. Just ridiculous to even consider it a reality.

He could just come on for the last fight when the other wrestlers were tired, and execute a late aerial bombardment from the ropes?

While people are correct that a lot of it is all a soap opera and loud postering, the actual skill in what these guys do isn't something a few weeks of training will get him up to speed with.
And it's one thing lifting the likes of O Nien and Kashket up, and another thing lifting some 18stoner up and supplexing them.
