I think Bayo can do as a 10-minute substitute. I don't think he can do as a start-every-match-for-half-a-season replacement if Ikpeazu suffers an injury similar to those he had earlier this campaign.
We’ve made some money with this cup run and now is the time to spend some to give Ainsworth a fighting chance. Left back is obviously a priority. The club have got a game tomorrow apparently some players we want to have a look at. Let’s hope there’s a couple of decent players??
@micra the club tweeted a pic of him back on the pitch earlier - whether that means he'll be back in the next few matches, who knows. But fingers' crossed...

Left back is absolutely essential; we've been on borrowed time since the start of the campaign. There's never a good time for JJ to get injured, especially against the team he supports, but a week before the transfer window closes is a lot better than the week after.
I think we're light in central midfield with Freeman gone. Adeniran should be back in the side; we will need stronger back-ups than Pattison and Bloomfield.
I still think we're a target man light as well in case Ikpeazu is out for a prolonged period. And, yes, one more central defender ideally needed as well, though it's good to see Stewart back.
So that's ideally four in, which means a further two would have to leave. At the absolute a minimum we need a left back. A lot of business for the last week of the window - but if we want to stand a fighting chance of staying up, it's time the Couhigs and Andrew Howard give Ainsworth the tools he needs to do so.
And back in the real world who are you moving out to get your four world beaters in? Really hoping you're not setting yourself up for dissapointment with such expectations.
I honestly think we might see one more loan signing.
Left back clearly the number one priority; personally I would put target man as 2nd, then central defender as 3rd, then central midfielder as 4th. Others might order it differently I guess.
As to who I'd move out - Pattison on loan; maybe Samuel. If we were able to secure a good central defender I would broach retiring early with Charles and asking him to stay on as part of the backroom team.

Why do we need another central defender? Stewart, Knight, Tafazolli and Charles is absolutely plenty.
A CM is a must given Thompson and Gapes fairly frequent injuries.

I'm not sure we can rely on Charles to play half a season; Tafazolli and Stewart are injury-prone; another central defender would allow us to play Knight in midfield (meaning we wouldn't need to sign another central midfielder)

We want Knight in central defence not midfield, according to Darragh McAnthony knight turned Peterborough down this season because he wants to play in the championship as a defender.

Stewart, injury prone! You sure about that. Apart from this current injury, when was the last competitive match he missed through injury?
I guess the CB position will come down to whether Tafazoli and Stewart have ACLs or slight muscle pulls. If they have those mystery injuries that should be ok next week then next etc it will be a gamble not to sign a replacement and have to use a combination of Grimmer, McCarthy and Charles as cover.
With only 1 available slot in the squad limit then getting in a LB good enough to cover JJ is essential
If we can loan 1 or more players who are over 21 out then we would have more slots to fill

Apart from last season, when has he completed a season without having to spend a significant period out injured?

The squad is currently at full numbers.
Allsop
Grimmer
Jacobson
Gape
Stewart
Tafazolli
Wheeler
Pattison
Ikpeazu
Bloomfield
Kashket
Knight
Yates
Muskwe
Phillips
Horgan
Thompson
McCleary
Akinfenwa
Charles
Onyedinma
Adeniran
Samuel
McCarthy
Stockdale
Anderson, Mehmeti, Burley, Georgiou, Linton and Clark are all U21 at the beginning of the season and don't count towards the 25.
All loans count towards the 25 even if they are U21 at the beginning of the season.
Phillips returned from Aldershot at the end of December. Parkers left and Freeman is on loan at Orient.
To get anyone one else in we will need to send Yates or Phillips out on loan or drop someone from the squad list for the rest of the season.
Great post @wwfcblue. Your post highlights the options open to our Management team.
Personally I would look to have Phillips and Yates move out on loan and maybe Pattison.
Samuel could be an option for a loan out. He needs to play regularly but will he get in front of Uche, Bayo, Admiral, Kashket, Fred, McCleary and Horgan?

I agree. Samuel is only really a striker, and I dont see him getting ahead of any of the players listed.

I think Bayo can do as a replacement target man! We're not going to be able to get anyone better to act as a stand in for Uche.

If we can get creative midfielder, a striker and back up for JJ I’d be happy!
In Ainsworth's programme notes he says he hopes for "at least one" signing so I wouldn't hold your breath for four @aloysius !
You said it’s good to have Stewart back @aloysius. Is he?
Can’t see us getting 4 in but we do need that left back specialist.

Oh I'm used to setting myself up for disappointment @Right_in_the_Middle!

Can’t see the need for a centre back once our squad is fit. We already have Stewart, Taff, Knight and Charles as back up.

A left back and Ofoborth back would be good. He has potential.
However, it looks like Ofoborth is in demand.

Rumoured to have signed a pre-contract to join Rangers at the end of his current deal so can't imagine we will be anywhere near sadly.
We want Knight in central defence not midfield, according to Darragh McAnthony knight turned Peterborough down this season because he wants to play in the championship as a defender.
Us and Sunderland are linked with Wimbledon Left Back Paul Osew as someone put on a thread earlier last week. Would be good cover for JJ.

And Grimmer/McCarthy if desperate.

We do have Giles Phillips...

I see that Will Grigg is being linked with loan moves to MK Dons, Shrewsbury and Salford.
If they can afford him what with the salary cap etc you’d hope that we might be able to afford a loan for him for the next few months.
The kind of goal scorer who if he can rediscover his form could prove vital in a relegation battle, would like to see us go in for him.
