Interesting. He'd seemingly been interested in buying Yeovil earlier this year. Given the timing, I wonder if he saw us as more attractive (which is obviously correct).
Ooh, its happening, standby. Investment and support with a view to taking a majority stake later seems a sensible approach for now. Time for a bit of research probably.
Hi guys, I saw this news and though i'd leave a comment.
Rob's takeover of Yeovil collapsed because our current owners pulled the plug, not the other way round. He was still very keen to proceed but for reasons still unknown our board called a halt to the deal and went with someone else.
Couhig seems like a decent guy and there was nothing during the discussions that publically made him look shady at all. He came over to Yeovil and met with our supporters trusts who reported favourably afterwards. I hope it goes well for you.
Mark Palmer was initially announced as some sort of football consultant but it transpired our board brought him in to find a buyer for the club, hence his direct involvement with Couhig. When that deal failed Palmer left.
Heard something was getting close a couple of weeks back so good to see some more detail.
I'm just hoping we can get the right balance between due diligence and getting something to agreement. Sounds like it might not need a legacy vote first off.

Comes across well in that interview, appears to want to agree a Strategy and then let the football management team execute that.
I'm not sure what "the best experience" will entail but I would prefer it to stay away from Baseball and American Football style entertainment...we finish games late enough as it is!
If we start deciding who can invest depending on their political views we might be narrowing our options somewhat. Just a guess, but I would imagine an ice-cream businessman and F1 owner based in Bucks might possibly be a Tory/UKIP. As long as he did not demand I vote for Bozzer or Beery Nigel...
I find it interesting that he is a Republican in a staunchly Democrat area, and a very economically depressed area, and has tried over many years to get elected with no hope of that happening. He does not seem to lack staying power.

A Republican. Should that matter? I’m afraid it matters a lot to me
Why should a person’s political views matter in this instance? Do you think he’s going to make Donald Trump club president?
No, but being a Republican makes his views even further to the right than the increasingly right wing of our politics here, not particularly compatible with values I'd want WWFC to promote.

There's a line to be drawn somewhere though...
If we were bought by someone along the "Nige" lines I'd stop going.
Not all go so far as to be political candidates. It makes me like him less, but at least there is no evidence of his active support for the Trump regime (as far as I can see.)
I'm not sure if its the sunshine, but personally I found that all a bit more promising than our previous American friends... prepared to come in and earn some trust is a good starting point.
The fact that he’s a Republican is totally irrelevant in my opinion. We are in a desperate position financially and we can’t afford to dismiss would be investors because we might not agree with their political views.

In principle.

Interestingly, the football consultant he's bringing in, Mark Palmer, was at Yeovil a couple of years back.

Seems there was a suggestion that he was part of what brought Rob Couhig in?

@MrGloverLover thanks Mark

Thanks for the clarification

Starting point of being a lunatic then, hopefully one with deep pockets.

Calls it 'football' rather than 'soccer' so that's a good start!
He may be a “Trump out” guy (chap) for all we know.

I’m sure if he did you’d find a positive in there.
To be fair, I’d imagine most sports club owners are of a conservative leaning for fairly obvious reasons.
There's a line to be drawn somewhere though...

The fact he is a republican is a positive in my opinion .
Over an hour in and if all anyone can find to criticise him are his political views then I'd say he's made a promising start.
Just a suggestion - but how about we wait until we actually hear the man speak before forming opinions and threatening boycotts?
@Last_Quarter who has threatened a boycott sorry?
You are all just a bunch of lefties

Totally agree .
