Match day thread: Luton FA Cup

  • Morris wont be here in January I'd imagine.

  • I suppose it will all depend on whether or not Morris wants to stay as well as the Shrews wanting him back. If he does not get a commitment that he is going to play in the position he prefers (which is why someone told me he wanted a loan in the first place) he may hang on here. Stranger things have happened. @rmjlondon have we not scored any goals?

sadly we don't look scoring a goal, and need Tyson back pronto and tbh we also missed Morris massively and Blooms.

Pursuant to @Wendoverman’s quip and after re-reading @rmjlondon’s post, I think he probably means that we close our eyes as we put the ball in the net. I take it he was referring only to the game actually in progress.

Just a thought, why don’t we adapt that ghastly American golf “chant” and substitute ‘net’ for hole - “in the net”. I’m sure Bill and Jim would love it.

  • We shouldn't get too down about a couple of bad performances in the cup.
We did just beat Peterborough as little as 9 days ago, following a string of home wins, that suggest we've adapted decently to the higher division.

  • Morris will command a fee which we wont have without the vote of yes !!!

  • As usual a million posts and richie gets straight to the nub of the ownership issue.

But modern day fans prefer to treat every game in isolation rather than looking at the bigger picture. Last week’s hero is this week’s villain.

When you look at the records of us and the other three promoted clubs it seems the standard of the "higher" division is no better.

Accumulated scores of Luton, Coventry, Accrington and us:-

    Played 68
    Wins 28
    Draws 22
    Losses 18
    Goals for 91
    Goals against 80
    Points 106

  • @mooneyman , I did some stats at the start of the season, and it was only 1 team who has gone up in the last 4 years (or was it 5? I forget) has come close to relegation, and they (Shrewsbury) finished 20th.

However, we certainly shipped some goals before we settled in, and we can't get complacent on other unrelated teams doing well in this league.

  • Gotta do it Malone if only because of potential ambiguity (ie unrelated could refer to teams other than promoted teams) but I decided on balance that you meant unrated teams. Nothing pedantic about that. Genuine ambiguity.

  • You're definitely missing a comma early doors.

Our promoted rivals aren't related to us, in anymore than being promotion buddies last season. Their form isn't anything that helps us to do any better, and thus, we cannot be complacent.

  • Quite.
