"We all agree, Trevor is better than Richie..."

  • And Maskell is better than Yashin.
We’re all ears on ‘ere, trevor. There’s always DM if you want to exclude the rest of us. @Shev, as I’m sure you know really, is an esteemed Gasroomer whose commitment to Wycombe Wanderers possibly exceeds your own despite his being resident in the USA.

  • Why thanks @micra - and the irony of it is that I wasn't actually intending to insult @trevor, but just write a rather gentle send-up of the concept of us (and our older players) not being good enough for the next step.

  • You’re welcome @Shev. Irony tends to escape trevor and his possible alter ego, richie.

  • Trev in august 'as usual the insults some people on here cant admit they where wrong and i as right as usual lets see where we are at the end of the season then .' This followed his post about people not accepting we made poor signings and would be mid-table at best. @trevor can you see why we might suspect your judgement?

so i got last season judgement wrong so what

i have got things right plenty of times before .

  • Citation needed.

  • I doubt Trev even gets "knowing when to go to the loo" right.

If so, I hope he has a good supply of incontinence pads!

Reminds me of when people (believe it or not) say “you never make mistakes do you, micra?” and micra replies “I did once - in 1966.” I don’t know why but mrs micra never sees the funny side of that. [Names changed to protect the innocent.]

Any examples of what you’ve got right on here in the past year, trevor ?
    Thought not.

CMS was signed and sealed before the end of the season, whereas we only entered into discussions with JJ (as far as we can tell) once the season ended, so I wonder if that shows the importance in Gareth's eyes - and we know he rates JJ highly.

Speaking of which...those negotiations are starting to drag a little, although I appreciate we're not even in June yet

Well, we are now. I thought I saw something on Twatter a couple of days ago to the effect that JJ had signed a three year contract. I am not making mischief. For all I know it might have been someone doing just that of course. Three years seems unlikely and I’ve seen nothing elsewhere. Anyone else seen what I’m fairly sure I saw ?

  • JJ has signed a two year deal

  • With who?

  • Richie hasn't announced it so it can't be true!

  • At least there's some rumours he's signed. (Hopefully for us!)

  • Trevor is deploying what’s currently known as the Michael Vaughan, Piers Morgan or @Wwfc2015_ technique.

    Step 1: Slag something off
Step 2a: If the something turns out to be rubbish, you are a sage
    or
Step 2b: if the something is successful, you can claim ‘nothing could make me happier than being proved wrong’ and possibly insinuate that your negativity has had some kind of hand in the success.

  • Absolute no lose that way isn't it!

  • @trevor does not seem to be that happy about being proved wrong @arnos_grove

  • Bloomfield is deserving of a two year deal IMHO. The only 'concerning' area to me was that he has said he wants to move into coaching - great, and I think most people assume that he is being groomed for a future at Wycombe in the post Ainsworth era - but his family has just moved back to Suffolk to allow his kids to start school there. Doesn't scream that he sees his long term future at Wycombe post playing days. At this level its really hard to make long distance jobs in football viable.

  • @TheAndyGrahamFanClub , that's an interesting insight indeed. A lot of driving? Or staying down here in the week? Neither seem ideal to say the least.

Am I alone in thinking Gareth has gone too far in re-signing almost all of his players? It seems to me there is a gap in the capability of players in league 1 as opposed to league 2 and while these players may have perormed well in the latter they may struggle next season. As a result of these decisions he has left himself with little room for manouvre in additional signings and I believe we need at least 4 quality players togive us a chance of survival. Am I being unduly pessimistic ? I hope I am proved wrong

2 years later we are in the Championship

  • Wonderful scenes!
