  • We'd have long been promoted with both Pierre and Blackman in there. Arguably either/or.

  • An interesting series of meaningless hypotheticals. Blackman is clearly a better keeper (who was also prone to the odd mistake lest we forget), but it's impossible to equate that superiority to points. Brown has had a few blinders this season that have won us points.

  • Every single goalie we've had over the last few decades has had shocking games (including Maskell, Hyde, Taylor). Hydie had an awful game at Col U when we lost 3-0 (91-92), and Martin Taylor had a good start when on loan, followed by a very shaky period after he signed permanently. Apart from last week, and one or two games at the start of the season, has Brownie been that bad overall?

  • I accept it's rather a simplistic statement, but if you are expecting to get automatic promotion you need to have players that are individually at least top 6 ability. Brown is an average keeper at this level, but because of his deficiencies e.g not controlling the box and staying on his line, there are probably at least a dozen better keepers at other clubs in this division.

  • Brown isn't particularly bad, he's just an average to lower end league 2 keeper.
We have been spoilt over the years though!

I dare say we'll move for a quality loan next season though, with Brown back to Cheltenham
