Match day thread: Port Vale

  • Saunders has shown all his class today, looks like he's still a championship player. We've used the wide forwards much better than last week which is good to see, and there's been some nice, quick, short passing too. All in all, unrecognisable from last week, though it got a little predictable in the last five minutes.

I hope @alsager93 is right and Vale fall apart in the second half. Could be a fun afternoon if that was them holding it together.

Can anyone confirm if that's the first time Bayo has hit a double for us?

    Sounds unlikely to me.

  • Scored two at Accrington.

  • @micra I must admit I thought the incident on Tuesday looked quite innocuous so as Paris could not continue it did worry me that he is a bit fragile. At least he got a goal today. Could be Gaz spends a lot of time managing injuries this season!

  • Mainly PCH's I suspect. - discounting Kashket as that is an ongoing condition. Wouldn't it be wonderful if, with all the advances on the medical front, it could be sorted once and for all.

  • Have to say it's extremely frustrating listening to commentary by Radio Stoke.
Hardly any mention of Wycombe players.
IFollow has a lot to answer for.

  • 3-1. 88 minutes gone

  • 3-2 now.

  • 3-2 now +5 extra time ....

  • Oh crap!!

  • Awful defending from El Abd for the second goal.

  • full time. Port Vale 2-3 Wycombe Wanderers. And breathe.

  • Wow. Talk about not making it easy at the end!

  • Apart from the last two minutes, that was an excellent performance from every player I thought. All went a bit wonky down our left at the end.

  • Great result (ish) good to hear it was a decent show. But hang on I thought Luton won the league 8 - 2 last week? Seems not. Long way to go.

  • Great result we'd all have snatched out of the hand of anyone offering it beforehand!

Late meltdown a little bit of a worry, with 2 conceded 3 games in a row now. Can't get Stewart back quick enough.

However, have to be delighted with 3 goals away from home. Just hope Paris is ok. Him and Tyson wide could be pretty effective if we actually utilise them properly.

  • Come on @Wendoverman, three points away at a team just relegated is a great result!

  • Fantastic 87 mins...suprised me! We are so effective on set peaces....paris goal was class!! When is stewart back we miss him loads!

  • Presume the 2 Bayo goals were set pieces, was Paris?

I hope we can score different types of goals, especially with Tyson out wide.

  • Be nice for ainsworth to update us on Stewart and kashket.....

Not going to happen. As you well know.

  • That 2nd goal looks lovely on the highlights. Passing from the back, lovely ball over the top from Saunders, and crisp finish

  • It was a fantastic goal. The third was also beautifully conceived - worth watching again to see how they worked the space for Luke at the corner. He is getting very good at making late runs.

  • And free entry for under 12s - well done Port Vale thanks for looking after us

  • Yup. Not a great viewing ground at all - stand much too shallow, with a scoreboard overhead making it hard to sit far enough back to see over the goal AND see the ball in flight - but very friendly people.

He makes the space expertly, but there is no way he's not going for goal with the volley

  • Oh 100% he was shooting - great reaction by Bayo!

  • Superb moment when El Abd gets skinned for the second PV goal, where he attempts to bring his man down, apparently by trying to yank his shorts down.

  • We took the piss.
