Women- know your place
I want to raise the profile of the ladies team and whether we as a club are doing enough to support them.
I understand their case is being raised at the trusts board level and we all are aware of our club finances but with a little thought maybe more could be done.
For the majority of its existence Wycombe Wanderers were a proud amateur side playing for the love of the sport and it seems to me the ladies keep that tradition alive.
The thread title is a reference to the Harry Enfield Chomondley-Warner satirical sketch of the same name, it's on YouTube and is certainly very amusing.

Be interested in hearing more from the Trust on this.
Is the Ladies team officially affiliated with WWFC? Forgive my ignorance on the subject.
As long as any support doesn't indirectly reduce Gareth's playing budget.
According to their/our website they play their home games in Stoke Poges. Can they be helped to find somewhere nearer?(especially unfortunate when Reading ladies play at AP)
They seem to run out in the old kukri kit- That speaks for itself
They are trying to recruit players - could they be allowed to leaflet before a league game kickoff.
There is government money to increase female participation in sport are they accessing that, could they be helped.
All stuff that won't break the piggy bank
@Morris_Ital- Good idea to leaflet/present prior to a home league match and I'd certainly support any attempts to raise wider interest in the Ladies Team.
Can women even own property?
(A line from How I met your mother)
Tongue firmly in cheek.
Been a while since I bought a programme didn't there used to be a Ladies section giving their results etc and they could put a recruitment page in as well
Cheer up Mr Chumleywarner!
Good shout this and the kind of thing a supporter owned club should be doing. I'd suggest exposure online as a starting point.
I admire your sentiment but I'm not sure that exposing yourself online is quite what we want for a family club reputation ahem
What about a supporters version of the "Calendar girls" . July- myself on the stairs up to the Frank Adams with a strategically placed steak slice
I'm just thinking about myself and some of the other regulars at AP and I think we're going to need considerably larger pies, please!
Did this get anywhere?
The calendar? Let's hope not!

They won on Sunday but some earlier games have been called off due to bad weather/pitches/player unavailability.
David Roberton is working hard on their case and making representations on their behalf
@AlanCecil sorry to be slow but but what do you mean by "working on their case and making representations on their behalf?"
@peterparrotface I mean that David Roberton is raising the matter of Wycombe Wanderers Ladies at both WWSET and WW Trust Board meetings (and seeking co-operation from WWFC) with a view to integrating them further and hopefully finding them a better more local home where they can train and play their matches.
@AlanCecil Thanks Alan

Great news
Hear hear.
Brilliant.
Fantastic news, well done everyone at the club and Trust
This is really good news, hopefully an end to the situation where Reading ladies play at AP, while Wycombe Wanderers Ladies play in Stoke Poges!
bringing the women's team into the club structure Is not only good news for them management costs etc but it shows WWFC are moving in the right direction to be able to look at being more inclusive and not just staying in business.
Arsenal Ladies, Manchester City Women. What's that all about?
It was all about this: http://www.thefa.com/news/2014/oct/16/arsenal-manchester-city-continental-cup
Yes I was there but I had no idea that southern women were ladies and northern women were, well women. Must be a regional thing.
Ladies seems slightly old fashioned to me.
@micra its nothing to do with geography, just tradition and personal choice of the club at the time. Chelsea are Ladies, Reading are Women, etc.

All ladies are women but not all women are ladies. Ladies possess refined behaviour and speech.
