Re: Match Day Thread: Charlton
As a non drinker, I can't even tell if that's a good price for a pint or not. Sounds expensive to me!
And who has a wine at a football game? Assume that's unusual?
A whine, very much so, a wine, not so much.
Re: Match Day Thread: Charlton
I think it's just doing the maths so mentally challenged football fans don't have to
Re: Bristol City fans finally warming to Mehmeti
Blooms may or may not be "Dan's guy" but the ownership group is very much results driven, by their own admission & Bloom's & his team are clearly delivering beyond expectations of all of us.
All the talk from the ownership team at the start of the season was about consolidation & building a platform for the future & Bloom's has got us way beyond that in the first half of the season. Of course, he needs to keep that momentum up; but no-one realistically expected us to be in the top 2 at Xmas, so I think a play-off place finish secures him a contract extension.
Re: It's okay, and all that... (thank-you, Chairboys)
Inspiring and very supportive post, thanks Jeevsie. Sorry to hear about the difficult times but wonderful you are able to share and care for others too.
You and Phil on the commentary is a great listen and you are clearly a true football fan. I enjoy your (relatively) neutral reflections. I don’t know how the selection works but I hope you end up supporting Phil for many more commentaries.
Re: Match Day Thread: Charlton
I think you're missing the point. Regardless of whether you drink or not, you'd think the price for "2 pints" would less than "1 pint". Ot why advertise the "2 pints"??
Re: Match Day Thread: Charlton
I was taken aback by the deal Charlton had on lagers yesterday. Couldn't resist 2 pints at that price!
Re: Match Day Thread: Charlton
Interesting to note that over the last two fixtures, every team in the division was either at home twice or away twice (does anyone know why?). Only four clubs managed to win both games: Reading, Leyton Orient, Barnsley, and Charlton. Of those four, three had back-to-back home games. Barnsley were the exception, winning twice on the road. Wycombe and Mansfield were the only other clubs to secure away wins across those 24 games.
That suggests two things to me. Firstly, that it's a significant advantage to be playing at home, on Boxing Day and especially three days later. Second, three points from two away games in three days in not to be sniffed at.
For the next two rounds of fixtures it's the other way round, and it will be intersting to compare if there is a similar home advantage - especially for the games on the 4th Jan.

Brian, thank you for feeling able to share your story. I have managed to muddle through dealing with my own mental health issues for the last 15 years. I’m glad to say I have come through the other side and now feel able to talk about it.
If I had my time again I would 100% choose talking to my family about my troubles from the start.
Terrific post👍
