Re: Match Day Thread: Wigan
The use of the "bed wetting" phrase is a bit silly.
There was a whole gamut of reactions from admittedly silly arguments, various degrees of concern to a few "cool" takes.
But while there's no need to panic just yet, recent form certainly hasn't been good against some fairly moderate teams. With bigger and tougher games to come we need to improve.

Re: Match Day Thread: Wigan
@OxfordBlue I, too, was surprised by the reaction on here. I enjoyed watching us and I thought we played well, with the control we'd had on Tuesday, and much as Mikey D said, just lacked either the inspiration or the moment of luck that would see us in on goal. It felt like we lacked a little composure in those key moments - like when Jasper's persistence saw him break away down the right, but then put his cross behind (probably a bit rusty to be fair).
As others have said, the performance is almost always seen through the prism of the result.
Re: The State of Play...
The fact we have to play the teams around us gives us complete control over our destiny. This gives me hope. Let’s start with 3 points on Saturday to close the gap at the top.

Re: Match Day Thread: Wigan
I must be one of the only people who quite enjoyed Saturday, even though it was 0-0.
Thought we played some very neat stuff at the back, but ran out of ideas in the final third against a very well drilled team.
The amount of bed-wetting on here about the performance it is extraordinary.
Re: The State of Play...
I think something needs to click in an attacking sense to make it over the auto line- as mentioned, defensively we look good and that might help in the nervous playoffs but getting back to free scoring I think is required now. I guess McCkeary, Fred, Udoh, Bez, etc might need to hit a purple patch or perhaps Lowry, Berry or Sadlier to come in and thrive?
Re: The State of Play...
I think where we are after the Wrexham game will be key. If we can get a few wins over the next few weeks feel like that momentum could see us through for the run in.
On paper at the minute we’ve got a tough end of season, and I’m especially wary looking at the final 4 game we have.
However, by the time we get to the Bolton, Charlton, Orient, Stockport games, depending on how things go for them the next couple of months, there is a chance any of those teams might not have a lot to play for (either already in or out of the playoffs etc).
I think the classic, taking one game at a time applies here!
Re: The State of Play...
Leaning towards the play-offs. Can’t see any sign that we’ll be replicating our scintillating early season form. Although our rivals aren’t exactly pulling up trees either.
There seems to be an air of confusion around the club at the moment, which doesn’t fill me with a lot of confidence.
Re: James Berry signs
Just the inevitable situation you get when one geezer buys the players, and another geezer has to pick what he sees as the best squad.
Not good if the high priced signings aren't seen as being in the best 18!

Re: Match Day Thread: Wigan
Yep, not to mention the changing rules, meaning we can spend bigger now, then we'd be able to next season, whatever division we're in.
It seems absolute genius making signings now. The only strange thing is how the bigger signings seem to not be ready / aren't fancied right now. But give it a month and they might all be game changers.

Re: The definitive ex-player news thread
The similarities between this move and Ainsworth’s move to QPR are obvious I guess. If he can keep them up I reckon he will make a go of it. But at this rate he won’t get the chance. They are terrible.
