  • I thought we played well in the last half an hour. Some incisive attacking football at times

  • Well, it wasn’t pretty, but I’ll take those 3 points thank you very much.

  • When we beat Shrewsbury on Tuesday he'll think he's solved football.

  • some saying it wasn’t pretty yet Reach and Humphreys played some great stuff and Simons was dominant. Apologies for enjoying the game and result

Watching from the Frank Adams, are you suggesting the bloke requiring the attention of a whole horde of stewards and what may have been a rozzer or at least a community support officer was hauled out for "just standing?"

  • Win was the only thing that matters but it was quite worrying that a superb Humphreys bit of hustle and composure aside, that we didn't look close to creating anything.

Ditch the back 3 immediately. If Bradley deserves to play, bench one of the other fellas. It's highly likely neither of them will be here next season, so no favours are owed or due

If you do have to play a back 3 then don't pick two of the least mobile least attacking options we have.

Am sure we'll see big changes on Tuesday. We cannot just settle for a 0-0 and supposed "control" for half a game.

Having to face Taylor, Low and Bradley must be a scary prospect for a forward. I doubt we’ll concede many goals in these last few games. With the King on the pitch, we’ll always have a chance to nick games. But what a contrast to earlier in the season, it’s not going to be pretty. Our bench will be the difference, as Dodds can make the changes to win games late on. Keeping going lads, we can still finish as heroes.

  • I'd be happy at getting promotion but at some point I'm going to want to start watching the games again.

  • Wondering if Dodds persisted with the formation as feels like we will need to play the 3 at the back for upcoming games, and wants players get used to it.

Very dull first half, but great to get the win.

Hoping Dan Udoh back soon as think in current formation he would be an even more useful option for us.

  • Pleased for the three points. Pleased for Cam who, under MD, has been a shadow of the player he was earlier in the season. Also special mention of Fred's defensive work when he came on and Josh doing the Josh thing. Other than that I had no ****ing idea what was going on there formation wise or tactically against quite a poor team. If the plan is to bore the opposition and crowd to death and then play for the last twenty mins...I'm not sure I like Doddsball.

And I'm usually an optimistic little soul.

  • If we had another forward option, would we look at 532, which may be a better option. But until Udoh is back we have making best of what we have.

  • I shouted 'get it forward' a lot but they didn't. It's almost as if they think someone angrily shouting at them is something to be ignored. The lino didn't 'keep up' either.🙂

We pay their wages an' all.

  • Get in! Huge six points from these last two games.

    Another massive game on Tuesday.

Cam Humphreys was sublime this afternoon

  • i am pleased that someone else had the same thoughts - Dodds is a great coach and it seems he is taking a very proactive approach, my thoughts are he is preparing the team for the tougher matches where this formation will work against Charlton and Stockport etc. also in the hope that Sadlier will also be an option from the bench - yes it’s been a bit scary, but Dodds has got it over the line with back to back wins - hopefully 3 in a row on Tuesday of which I believe will be the same line up / formation - if not, ignore my waffle above !

  • He's had a good deal of fortune in the last two games regardless of performance, Rotherham was a basket case where in truth anything could have happened and today their defender fell over under no pressure, I hope that continues. Rallying late is a good sign and if he wins all remaining games he'll be a genius but I can't agree he's been proactive. He's played safe and kept the status quo at every turn.

  • No pressure? Did you not see Humphreys doing some sterling hassling work?

  • Pretty sure the old formation didn't do too badly against Stockport last time we played them.

  • I thought we were OK second half. Definitely more defensive than under Blooms but I didn’t hate it at all. Could have had more goals and could / should have had a penalty

  • I agree 100%. One of the CB’s needs to be dropped. Tough call. Caleb was immense today and so was Joe. And Sonny, is Sonny.

And also 100% agree that all three will be gone, so you treat your mercenaries, as your mercenaries and we pick what’s right for the team.

  • indeed @vital - but we don’t appear to have the same personnel with a certain midfield genius missing ! Tuesday 5th November is a long time ago in footballing terms - Stockport are a serious threat - 5-0 four months ago means nothing at this stage of the season

  • Biggest issue is Kone being played so isolated. I actually think this was one of Kone’s weaker games in a long time, by his standards at least. Was quite heavy footed, especially in the first half. He definitely was more King in the second half, but I think he must be frustrated with service. Yes it was great to see Humphreys get more forward where he excels and Josh and Reach were great today. But as @Malone says, apart from a piece of magic, we didn’t look like scoring. Which is worrying.

I’m not taking Shrewsbury for granted, but looking ahead, with Reading up next Saturday, we’ve got to improve in the final third.

  • It was a strange situation. The guy just seemed to be standing in the yellow hashed zone. He was asked to move and didn't.

Things kicked off a bit, but it didn't require the fuss around it. I don't think it should've been dealt with in such a strong handed manner

  • seems harsh to level “luck” as the latest accusation against Mike Dodds. Football seasons are defined by luck, from Luke Leahy’s winning “goal” vs Mansfield in November to surviving a Millwall onslaught in the FA Cup second round in 2000-01 to a hundred million other examples. The luckiest teams generally end up at the top of the table, that’s how football works

  • Fair enough, never easy to see what's going on from another stand but easy to assume it's more than it is from the marshal numbers involved!

  • Why will Sonny be gone? I thought his contract at Derby expired in the Summer, and if so, we would be mad not to take him on. I know he's 33 but his experience in invaluable whichever division we are in next season.

  • Dull, creating very few chances, uninspiring, boring but we won - that's what really matters.

Achieve thatresult in the next 8 games and I'll be happy.

  • We won, it wasn't pretty, wasn't great, but we won, its what we have to do now.

My deepest condolences to those of you that clearly wanted us to lose today so you can continue your narrative

  • Perhaps I’m just miserable but I feel dejected and disoriented. Dodds’ post match analysis poking fun at the fans as if they don’t watch enough of Rotherham and Rotherham are a really good side. They got walloped 4-0 at home by Crawley. Steve Evans will probably get sacked. Rotherham are poor this season. I don’t understand Dodds poking fun at fans as if we are misinterpreting our last two games. We’ve absolutely fluked two games and I can’t see us within five points of Wrexham by season end if we keep playing like this.

  • Bloomfield had a good deal of fortune in many games too with us only picking up winners in injury time . We rode our luck against Mansfeild away under Grace and only beat Mansfield at home with a miss hit cross . There were some stand out games like Stockport and Lincoln away but out early form was at least in part pften helped by a large slice of luck .
