Can’t afford another slow start to the game. Got to come out of the blocks like tigers. Like controlled tigers of course, wouldn’t want any silly reds.
According to a deranged thread on another forum, we had a football 'firm' in 2001 called Section 5. Our Top Boys took the piss out of Swindon fans in their main pub and got a slap. This appears to be the most exciting thing that happened to Section 5.
Watched the highlights this morning. Dead cert penalty and 100% in the box. The sky commentator said the ref made the correct decision . Parkinson has had so many decisions go his way that he can't take it when he doesn't get one.I hope that we get a neutral referee on Saturday and not a Mickey Mouse one. Excuse the pun.
I thought they were called Section 5 as there was only 5 of them. I was pretty young at the time but remember them running on the pitch at Notts County away, guess early 00s.
Correct. They ‘invaded’ the pitch following a late equaliser from Craig Faulconbridge (Wrexham connection!). Which triggered mass chanting of ‘Wycombe doesn’t want you’ and lots of hand gesturing back towards the crowd. I think at least one member is a reformed character now…the early 00s saw a brief resurgence of wannabe hools with the Cardiff v Leeds FA Cup game a lowlight. Bloody annoying when my FB is invaded by videos of aged halfwits promoting their tales of yore.
I've come to the conclusion that there is no point stressing over the "run in" with 10 games to go. A few weeks back we were 6 points clear, at one point we were ahead of Birmingham and now they are 12 points clear. All the results that I have predicted have gone completely wrong, and everything and anything can change at the drop of a hat.
Players can get injured, suspended, poor form can hit, good form can hit, refereeing decisions can go for or against anyone - there are far too many variables.
I'm just going to sit back and enjoy what a season this has been. Expect the worst, knowing that at our best we can beat anyone in this league (and above), and hope for the best.
With all the change that has happened this season, we have dealt with most that has been thrown at us. One last push will see us over the line - but if we fall - I'm excited by my clubs' plans for the future.
Now that I've got Micra's contact details I'm more excited in bringing back Section 5. We could use 'Decimal 5' by The Scaffold as the basis of our chant and if we add a few members of the Georgian Mafia we could be top boys in no time.
I hope we don’t play with too much pressure on Saturday. A 0-0 draw is not ideal but it would not be the worst result in the world. Yesterday’s result made it more of a must not lose game rather than must win - which I think works in our favour.
I actually think that Rotherham is a bigger game than this one in some ways. Whatever result on Saturday, it will be wasted if we dont get a result against Rotherham with the games we have coming up.
Whether that be to catch up with Wrexham or go further clear, it's massive.
Not that it needs raising again, but whilst we still have this forum, we are so lucky to have it without ads etc
Wrexham thread on Wycombe below. Nothing too earth shattering, most posters are fair and balanced, and actually slightly nervous about coming to AP on Saturday. Think the Reading defeat took the wind out of their sails a little…
An interesting read and the majority have no confidence for Saturday and having a pop at a lot of their team for not being fully fit or to old to last the distance. Let’s see their predictions come true. COYB
It’s going to be a very tight game decided by one or two key moments. Their forum is concerned about Kone’s pace, but Wrexham will set up deep to nullify this. Parky will know we have struggled to break down teams that sit in and defend, and if we are slow to get the ball back to front we will struggle again. We have the players to move the ball quickly through midfield or out wide, but those players have to have big games. A slow paced game will suit Wrexham, and I will be very worried if the game is 0-0 coming into the last 10 minutes. Be brave and start on the front foot and we can win this. A big test for Dodds motivational powers I feel.
The closer we get to the game, the more I feel like this will be a nervy slugfest. I'd love us to nick a cagey game, similar to the Sheffield Wednesday result in the 2021/22 run-in. I think the psychological boost, as much as anything else, will be huge if we get the three points. Drawing further parallels with 21/22, should we sit back and look to pinch a goal late on or try to blow them away early like we did that season against Plymouth? That game was one of the most impressive, dominant displays I've seen in recent years, and it came at such a crucial time of the campaign.
I worry about Wrexham’s annoying ability to nick games late on. This isn’t just luck, their squad have a lot of games and experience under their belts. We have to make this a negative and run them ragged from the off. Their extra game in the week will tell, especially as they lost. I’m sure we’re a better team, but the players have to believe it. Big test for the management team.
I agree...we have the players to undermine their confidence early on if we set about them with a bit of pace and the King putting it about. I would rather have an exciting high scoring game than a possession bore fest that they nick with a 95th minute Hollywood penalty. (Though I could live with a bore fest and us getting a Kone penalty in the 98th.)
I fear that the referee is going to be over-excited and Low and Taylor will have to watch themselves with their wily old forwards.
My confidence is low on this one, for the reasons outlined above - struggling to break down solid, negative counter-attacking teams.
The only saving grace is that I feel Wxm may think they need the win more than we do - yes, on paper they have the easier run-in for sure but we all know the risks in playing theoretical football vs getting points on the board.
Would love Vokes to be in the squad to give us a different option if, yet again, we are struggling with hold-up play - Kone is great, and should obvs start, but he’s not the biggest aerial threat which meant that we were resorting vs Posh to very odd options like using GMac as a target man.

Exactly this, the pressure to win/not lose can’t be underestimated and affects even the most experienced players.
Can’t afford another slow start to the game. Got to come out of the blocks like tigers. Like controlled tigers of course, wouldn’t want any silly reds.
Something like this
I feel much better having read this!
Win on Saturdayo, and we’ll have one big toe in the Champo. I’ll get my coat.
At least in documentary terms Adams Park will look like a veritable cauldron of rabid football fandom onscreen.
Hopefully we will get at them early...

Time to reform for the Wrexham game?
If the cameras were facing toward the FA maybe.
I thought they already got the band back together but the drummer was crap.

I remember seeing 10 members of Section Five running away from three Port Vale fans after being chased out of a chip shop.
Nails.

Half a dozen halfwits.... a Wycombe "firm"
Oh my goodness.... its cringeworthy....
Shame on the family!

Didn’t see all of the game but what I did see suggested Wrexham weren’t all that.
We need to start on the front foot, early goal and away we go.
I think even most of their fans would tell you they’re not “all that”, but what they can do is grind out results like no other.
That’s one of the things that concerns me, we tend to do pretty badly against solid dogged sides that don’t go out of their way to attack.

I’m certainly up for it. I’ve definitely got the bottle. Can’t go far without it these days.
We’re ready and we’re in block H of the Frank Adams stand ,
I’m calling our new firm Preparation H.
Chalfont Ultras terrified
