Not sure this jury is still ‘out.’ MD just said they’re fit, they’re just not good enough to get into the team. Which is not what we needed in the January window. Wrexham signed Sam Smith.
Have the Danish lads got fit over the last week then? As in the last interview Doddsy specifically mentioned the 2 of them hadn't played for yonks and gave the distinct impression they weren't fit / ready.
MD also said he didn’t intend disrupting the team that had done so well before his arrival and he hasn’t. He’s had just 4 games as head coach and remains undefeated with just one unstoppable goal conceded. I think if any jury considered those facts the verdict would be not guilty.
These quotes from Mike Dodds are really bizarre. Why would he feel the need to say it? Is it naïveté and he’s simply being honest? (imagine that), or is he pointedly making a point, so to speak?
To be fair to MD if they are good enough he has given them a go.
He put Simons in and Xavi appears to have cemented an automatic starter spot, he has given Lowry 2 sub appearances where he has looked decent, gave Back a start which we all seemed impressed with, put Taylor into the back 4 which we all wanted, put Norris in instead of Rav & he has improved each game; the 2 Danes have had short run outs, though it was clear they were certainly a bit away from "match fitness"; plus of course Bradley has not really put a foot wrong when he has played for us.
By my count that is 8 of the incomers who have been given opportunities - I think that demonstrates a willingness on MDs part to not only give players the chance to prove themselves but also to pick the best players available/from training to do the job required vs the opponents we have.
I had a knowledgeable football friend tell me once that if you recruited five players - one would turn out to be better than hoped, one would be somewhat worse than you hoped and three would perform at the level you hoped.
It's too early to say quite how our January signings will turn out but I doubt it will be far off that appraisal after 12 months.
What's probably true is they won't all be as successful as we hoped, but we need to give them a chance.
He's been in charge for 4 games for goodness sake! The guy has taken on a team second in the league and clearly explained that he would not be making radical changes this season (a sensible, pragmatic approach given the context). We also have two wingers that have played Premier League football, the League's top scorer, a premier league loanee with 12 goals + assists, plus several other capable deputies.
With that in mind it doesn't seem so strange to me that a new signing faces a struggle initially to get in the team. Didn't Sadlier originally find minutes quite limited last season? By the end of it he was one of our best attacking players.
Unless these quotes are somehow being taken out of context, a more experienced manager would have given a more considered answer to whatever question was being asked, even if what he said is the truth.
I’m sure he’ll learn to be a bit more savvy as he grows into the role.

And there’s me being honest and, as I thought, pretty innocuous. Never mind.
I still believe in you.
Computer says no.
Never doubted you, mon ami. Merci.
Scored 10 goals though, that bodes well.
So not just lack of sharpness, they’re NBTWWAG.
I hope not. It sounds very painful.
Aaaah. I know that my deodorant is Greatest Of All Time so that must be No Better Than What We’ve Already Got. Got it. QED.
Reach has played once this season, the Danish lads hadn't regularly played for months and Berry was in and out of the Chesterfield team.
So the jury is still out on being "better" than the current lot.
We've just got too rammed a squad right now. Any match day squad will have 8-10 not featuring and that's not really sustainable
The summer will be an absolute revolving door.
We may lose players to injury or suspension before the season is out and if that happens, the new guys will get their chance.

‘He’s not injured…it’s not just James, it’s all the boys.’

Yes, they're not injured, no-one said they were?
Probably just trying to be honest. He'll develop a slightly harder approach over time I'm sure.
To not even get on the bench once is a little worrying if Berry has been fit the whole time though.
I would go for ‘bizarre’ rather ‘worrying’ personally. It suggests there’s something going on we don’t know about.
If some guy walks past the terrace holding up a banner that says
"It's all in the data"
before the last game of the season as we get promoted to the Championship the January transfer business will just be a page in history.
Just the inevitable situation you get when one geezer buys the players, and another geezer has to pick what he sees as the best squad.
Not good if the high priced signings aren't seen as being in the best 18!

But…that’s my point!
At least MD doesn’t feel like he has to pick player just because Rice signed them.

Exactly this. Except he’s made a point of it. Admittedly he was answering a question, but still.
I’m probably reading too much into it. It does make you wonder how long he’ll be around though.

Lubala isn’t offering much at all wide left, especially when compared with what Sadlier was doing this time last year.
Hopefully Berry gets a chance soon.
