I'm not professing admiration for any of Johnson, Trump or Farage. I'm simply saying that all three of those reach parts of the electorate that other politicians cannot reach.
If the left, in the form of the Labour party, expect to hold on to power in 2029, they need to find a charismatic leader who engages with the hopes and fears of a substantial proportion of the voters. And that person is not Keir Starmer, nor is it Angela Rayner or Rachel Reeves.
Seemed to work this time, probably as a counterbalance to the charlatans and posers before.
A second term is a more difficult sell obviously and some measure of success is needed you can't just say "we're not crazy like that lot" forever. Well not unless you want weekly elections like the Italians.
It's also difficult to predict at this stage what the biggest right leaning option will be , and how "loony" it might appear.
Lots of screaming and shouting through the whole process and claims of silent majorities, all a bit dull tbh, the press seem far more interested in the show than the issues.
Personally I just hope all the farmers who brought traffic to a standstill in London with their tractors the other day get similarly lengthy jail terms to the Just Stop Oil protesters who did something vaguely similar.
The mighty @Chickenhead introduced politics into this thread, aided and abetted (of course) by @Malone. So this fully paid up champagne socialist and member of the metropolitan liberal elite respectfully suggests any complaints are sent in that direction.
What are the transfer fees for Keir Starmer, Kemi Badenoch, and Nigel Farage? I suspect they are quite low, considering none could fill a bathtub to put their heads under.

Or am I hopelessly naïve (and/or a loony lefty)?
Yes.
Why don't you put all this crap on the "Not Football" category?
Mooneyman, I am getting seriously concerned as I keep finding myself agreeing with your posts!
Perhaps you should target the people that started the politics on this thread rather than the Tory target!

I should have just thrown a milkshake at @Chickenhead I apologise for getting involved.
Can we keep the politics to the not football thread please?
Can we not tell people where to discuss what?
No

Rightwing nutter.
