  • Crikey, that 7-2 collapse was a real low point. I seem to recall that the rot set in well into the second half when Fred was adjudged unbelievably harshly to have committed a foul as he brought the ball out of the penalty area and heads really dropped when the resulting penalty was put away.

I wonder if Darren Drysdale was involved.

  • I’m still cross about that penalty.

  • 2-2 up to 43 mins, then lost 7-2!

The only madder second half I can remember in my Wycombe supporting days was that Villa game in the cup where we were 3-1 up at half time, then literally everything Villa hit went in and they won 8-3!

    (Yes, literally, @micra ;-) )

  • I know people keep disliking these posts, but it is enjoyable for me to see the different layers of Blooms' career on various days.

Gareth Ainsworth: “We could not have achieved everything that we have done without him, and above that, I wouldn’t have wanted to have gone on this journey without him. He has been such an inspiration to everyone at Wycombe Wanderers, on and off the pitch…Wycombe Wanderers have been truly blessed with an extraordinary individual that has gone far, far beyond what he signed up to do. Matt Bloomfield is a guy you can rely on with anything; a guy who will be there for you through everything and someone who has the respect of every other footballer in the game.”

  • Lovely tribute from Gaz, says a lot about both of them. No need for thumbs down even if you think he was wrong to leave how and when he did.

  • It bothers me not.... but how long are you planning to keep this going @glasshalfempty 🤣

  • For the rest of all time.

    Or until he gets bored.

  • Keep them coming, thoroughly enjoying it!

  • The summer could be interesting - June 15th 2011 - Matt Bloomfield went on holiday to .......?

  • I am hoping it will continue for a full 12 month calendar year (with a 29th February squeezed in even though this year is not a leap year). Not because I am grieving the loss of Matt Bloomfield from Wycombe; more because so many of the posts are bringing back memories of matches long past.

I am looking forward to the one when he scored a goal, broke his arm in the process, but carried on playing against York.

  • We were at my friends Stag weekend that match and I had managed to arrange, via the club, for Matt to present a shirt to the Stag at the end of the match in the away end. As he was leaving the pitch at the end, he went over to Paul Hayes and gesticulated to the away end and made sure that Paul came over to present the shirt so he could get the treatment he needed. I genuinely wasn't expecting him to arrange anything else due to his injury.

Paul came over and chatted for a bit, did some photos with us and presented the shirt.

The fact he remembered and wanted to ensure that someone else's day would be the best it could be, even though he was not ok, epitomised Matt. This is just one one of the reasons I'm enjoying this thread and bringing back the memories of games he played a small or large part in and the journey we've been on with him.

@glasshalfempty sorry we're 8 weeks early for 9th April but I had to reply to this one!!!
