  • What a class act. We were lucky to have him. All the best for the future Wheels. Hope to see you out there playing for a while yet

  • " I got to experience a culture where every player was valued and appreciated for exactly who they are. Where differences were celebrated."

Neil Harman should be served a notice with these words at the top and then asked never to mention our club again. He is everything we are not and any lingering connection should be severed immediately

  • Saw the news and although I feel it was inevitable it still feels like a loss for the club overall. Great guy and one of the best at winning a header I've ever seen.

Best of luck with whatever you get up to. COYB.

  • I was just struck by the huge contrast between the values of Wycombe Wanderers that David Wheeler clearly holds so dear, and the values that Neil Harman regurgitates on X whilst continuing to claim to admire what Wycombe Wanderers stands for. The two standpoints are incompatible, in my opinion

  • I really don’t think a message of hatred towards someone who has no relevance at all to WW has anything to do with a post about such a wonderful human being as David Wheeler.

  • He wrote the most recent book on Wycombe Wanderers - he definitely has relevance. Funnily enough, he's the one regularly regurgitating the 'message of hatred'.

  • Superb servant to the club on and off the field. Totally committed individual who always gave 100%. Hope he does get that moment to come back to Adams Park, for fans to show their appreciation for all his time at the club.

  • I took advice from a wise sage on here by changing my default on Twitter to 'Following'. As a result I am not exposed to argumentative nonsense. My life is better and I have no idea if Neal Harman is nice human or not. I can tell you that there are planned closures on the M20 and M25 tonight though - you have been warned.

  • That statement oozes class. Thanks for everything!

🎵 David Wheeler he's our mate, he's our mate, he's our mate,

David Wheeler he's our mate, he hates emissions!🎵

  • Sadly I knew this was coming.... I suspect this may hint at retirement from playing; albeit I still think he would have a lot to offer somebody mid-bottom half of this league or in L2.

Model professional and a gem of a man; and the message to the fans was exactly what you'd expect from him and was very classy. Literally played for the badge every time he put that shirt on for us. I am sure we will be hearing plenty about the work he is doing post WWFC.

  • Wheels is a fantastic guy, I wish him every success in whatever he chooses to do next.

  • I believe he was doing a masters in sports psychology, so he should have plenty of options playing or otherwise

  • Thanks for everything Wheels!

He would make a great PFA Chair if the position came up

  • I hope he doesn’t cut his football playing days short. He is fit and not injury prone. Perhaps combine it with his other interests?

There has been conjecture that he doesn’t want to move away from the area. Perhaps Maidenhead could use his services in their relegation struggle?

  • Good shout - didn't John Mousinho do that briefly?

  • Yes, for about 20 months up until his appointment at Portsmouth

  • Good luck Wheels

Wheels has been my favourite player since walking through the door, not just because of his class on the pitch, but also the way he handles himself away from it. His keen sense of responsibility and ability to understand that football was a big part of life, but crucially not the only part of life is something that still inspires me whenever we have a slightly dodgy result.

He represented the club so beautifully and I hope wherever he lands next he can find somewhere that not only appreciates his on field ability but also gets how much he adds culturally.

I’ve no doubt David will be successful in whatever he chooses to do after football, if he emerges as a Labour/Green MP for my local area one day I’d certainly not hesitate to give him my vote.

Thank you for everything Wheels - and good luck!

  • This one hurts. He truly embodied our culture and always played with absolute determination and no little skill in whichever position he was asked to do a job. Best of luck Wheels, you’ll be truly missed. And fwiw my son loved your goal celebration!
