We already suffered a bit of a loss of impetus over the final 3-4 weeks under Blooms. Admittedly it was far from an awful run of form, but it was not the form of promotion winners either. It would be hard to separate any potential future loss of impetus from that.
Besides, we have a pretty favourable fixture list over the next six weeks or so. I think it is probably the perfect time to bed in new players and a new manager
I was hinting at the beautiful irony of the current multi-million pound investment in new players potentially disrupting the unprecedented success that we’ve all been enjoying, resulting in a temporary downturn in results sufficient to reduce the ultimate achievement from automatic to playoffs. I balanced that with the positive suggestion that the new players would have gelled sufficiently by the end of the season to be strong enough to win the playoffs.
You make very good points. I had forgotten our loss of impetus due to the Bloomfield to Luton discussions. Maybe that loss of impetus contributed to Bloomfields decision to go to Luton, we will never know.
I apologise if I went OT. My (pipe) dream of Morley returning is shortly coming to an end and I’ll have to find another player to have the name on my new Wycombe shirt as my old one no longer has any evidence of the Hummel logo (thanks Hummel) so this thread will shortly be dead to me 😂
I'm looking forward to the official 'Morley Cannot Come Back Here' day at this point. We all need to let it go as a teen crush that did not work out long term!
We need our new handsome giant Dane #2 to put in such a big performance that Mr Morley is mentioned as infrequently as Longwjk at Huddersfield was mentioned after Taylor's impact.
(Rejig sentence with Taylor and handsome giant Dane #1 added in his place)
Not looking likely he’ll be joining you now guys as there doesn’t seem to have been even a ripple of news about either outgoings or incomings here, a pretty hiring day all round. Of course anything can happen in the last few hours but you’d think if there was anything brewing somebody would be in the know? Anyway it doesn’t look like it so good luck for the rest of the season and I’m really hoping you do it through the automatics and pip the Hollywoods.
Many many years ago (maybe 55) as a young boy on a day trip with school we walked past Robert Morley - who was quite famous at the time - hearing him remark "Children are quite horrible!" or something similar.
That's about as close to Aaron Morley as we're going to get, I think.
Not sure how this falls down on either side of the Bloomfield/Ownership argument. It’s a statement rather than opinion. For the record I would have loved Morley to come back, as would 99% of fans.

He must mean nexts season's Championship play-offs.

Au contraire, mes amis.

Hope that explains it better.

It's the Aaron Morley thread, as @micra said!
You came here, fingers crossed, only for your hopes to be dashed.
Worse, there was a load of gibberish from that bloody @micra .
Correct on both counts. 😁
Cheers mate! I’ll sort you out next time we have a coffee chat.

Can you move this to the another thread please mate, this is the Morley thread 😛

I’ll ave a go but I’ll probably need your help.
This thread is dead.

This thread will linger until he retires and then we can talk about whether he'll be our manager.
@micra quite right, we should have our players bedded in and style of play optimised in time for the FA Cup Final.
Just a cheeky bump. A small cheeky one.
I hear a cheeky bump is all you need these days
Still 4.5 hours to go 🙏

Need to move on, lads
We're getting Xavier Simons - he's the Morley successor
Thought he was at Barcelona

he is proven in championship and is an excellent signing if we get thos over the line!
MB wanted him prior to leaving and was told the club are pursuing other options. He isn’t joining, you can let it go.
As one of our newest posters, this no doubt comes with the Danuard Seal of Approval.

Morley was Fantastic but genuinely think the Simmons could be even better !
when the window closes i feel like we neend a ceremony to shut this thread down.
Morley is going to be the new Dave Tarpey.
I don’t think that’s fair, as the legend of Dave Tarpey could only be the greater for the fact of never actually having played for us.
