Sonny. Again. Was Keogh mk 2 before he'd played a game for us though apparently.
No one
(Kone)
Sonny
Kone easily the best player, looked class, not his fault he was on too late and got too little service.
Low was our MOTM. Kone was excellent when he came on. Not sure many others come out with too much credit
How did Joe Low get MOTM from the sponsors? Well off his best today.
i thought he was excellent, the pick of our starting eleven. Great to see him back.
I went with Kone just because he brought such hope and quality to the side.
Can understand the calls for Bradley/Low though, Low especially had his work cut out against Eaves but Bradley looked very solid and was winning a ton in the air.
I thought Harvie looked good before he got hooked but can understand us wanting to toughen up the midfield with Butcher.
Think Harvie was injured but not quite sure what, anyone know?
Kone. The only bright spark in a gloomy performance.
This is one of the only times I’ve given motm to a sub. Kone was absolutely outstanding when he came on. Every week he impresses me more and more.
Bradley for me. Headed everything away and is solid as a rock. Whereas I thought Low looked some way off his usual, rattled by an unusual brick sh!thouse type opponent who constantly grappled and battered him.
Some lovely runs from Kone later on, but Bradley solid all game.
Have to agree on today's showing.
I voted Scowen but I realise I should have gone for Sonny the only really consistent player today! Darn it.
Kone looked another level when he came on. His touches, strength and runs, amazing. He just went up another million quid.
Sonny was a rock and would have had my vote if not for the impact of King.
Kone by a mile
I thought that dribble towards goal against Wealdstone, shrugging of two or three defenders before slamming the ball home was brilliant but it was superseded today against considerably stronger opponents when he took the ball from just inside the Northampton half to near their box (?) despite two attempts to foul him en route.
Do I need to name the player?!
It’s exactly that kind of moment that lifts the crowd and encourages the team to try things themselves and what we were sorely lacking until Kone came on.
From that initial lineup it didn’t seem like we’d shown Northampton enough respect and in the end the result showed that too.
Kone stretching them for 90 minutes would have thrown up a lot more chances and created spaces for our other attacking players. The formation and personnel we deployed allowed the Cobblers to keep their shape and reset every time we got the ball.
Dreadul game and performance. They’ve become more frequent in recent weeks (months?) but that was by far the worst.
Great cameo from King Kone. Had Fred come on sooner, which he really should have, both could be worthy of a vote.
I went for Low though. His handling of their absolute thug of a number nine was excellent. A literal blood, sweat and tears battle.
In reality, I don't think we've played "well" in the league since Stevenage away. Hoping the new signings give the whole squad a kick up the backside (when they're allowed near the match day squad).
I’d actually argue that Stevenage is an outlier in a run that extends to before that game.
Teams have definitely worked out how to nullify us, especially at home. We were scoring for fun whilst still missing lots of chances earlier in the season. Since the run of 11 wins came to end we’ve been creating fewer chances and have been less clinical.
We’re in an amazing position and must not become complacent in expecting we can beat opposition like Northampton without playing (at least close to) our best XI.
A good point. Since the winning run ended at the start of December our record in the league is played 11, won 4, drawn 5, lost 2, scored 16, conceded 10. Could be better, could be worse, but I still think we need to turn some of those draws back to wins if we're going to hold off Wrexham / Huddersfield until the end.
We looked so much better once Kone, Grimmer and Fred came on... one of those 3
Sam Grace mentioned afterwards that Harvie was subbed as a precaution. Hopefully it is just that and he's OK for Tuesday.
Went for McCleary as MotM today. Looked closer to his best. Couple of overhit crosses at the end were frustrating, but he was at the heart of all our best moments.
We’ve been on the slide since Rice started sacking Blooms’ hires, it’s possible that had some kind of effect on the players I guess.
What, from the first day of the season when Dr Dave and the sports psychologist departed?
To expand on this, our PPG over the past 11 games is 1.55. Stretch that out over the final 19 games of the season and we end on 85 points. That likely finishes 4th, possibly 5th.
Blooms didn’t hire them.
Since the start of the season ? Give It a rest
