  • good teams take their opportunity...we did not unfortunately due to the lack of experience of the people in the dug out...Rice needs to appoint someone and quick

  • Not sure Luton supporters agree with your assessment of their manager at the moment!

  • Agreed. I think it is always important to beat what is in front of you. It felt like we were overlooking Northampton.

  • I know it doesn't tell the whole story but every time the TV pictures cut to a shot of Sam Grace on the bench he looked listless, glum and a little lost. He wasn't communicating with the team around him or the players on the pitch. He's probably a very good developer of talent but does he have what it takes to set up a team on match day, motivate them and switch tactics when things aren't going to plan?

The players in the first half looked like they had no instructions on how to play - just aimlessly passing it, occasionally to each other. They were better when Grimmer came on and Butcher added an element of competence to the midfield that is always lacking when Leahy is in it. But the front three were mid-table quality at best. Garath scored a wonder goal last week but he's still a substitute for me. Hanlan is the weakest of all our frontline.

If Udoh is injured and Fred is being rested we should have started with Berry on the left, even if he doesn't know Wycombe's tactics. Because on the evidence of today - he would've been in exactly the same position as our other ten players on the pitch.

  • Or we're trying to make sure Kone doesn't snap his hamstring in half and get sidelined for months

  • This is on the line up, Northampton a bit lucky in the end but that happens, Fred and the King are leagues above Brandon and Bez, we should have played one if not both from the start or brought them on earlier. Also difficult to believe none of the signings could do 10-15 mins remembering it took Humphreys and Morley about 10 seconds to bed in.

Blaming Dan Rice every time we miss a shot or tackle is already getting old, he might be well out of order but I await the day when one of my least favourite senior directors at work forces me out by ringing me and telling me one of our biggest local competitors wants me to join them for a 5-10 times salary multiplier. If he could get on and sort a boss out though that would help. How else can we tell them they are crap 30 seconds into a game and then brilliant after their first win.

  • this is NOT on Rice , they have massively invested in the squad...today was on the line up ...Negative and set the scene of the match

  • I live in Bedford so there's a few around here, they seem over the moon that the team finally seems to have some cohesion when attacking, but their back 4 are apparently "cold shit" and they're desperately hoping Blooms replaces all of them.

Too much hoofball today and our shape didn’t look right.

We are missing Morley and hopefully there is a plan without him. Either Westergaard or a new signing to fulfil that role.

  • I did not realize he was that fragile after a week between games!

  • Lineup was determined by interim coaches. Coaches are interim because Rice did not want Blooms.

  • Looking on the bright side, who thought we would be 28 points ahead of Peterborough at this stage of the season?

  • That's basically 16 matches at 1.74 points per game.

  • Time to log off I think - this place is a playground at the moment

  • blooms is not innocent...he ditched us remember that...and trying to take our star man !! get your head out of the clouds

  • Too many key players didn't step up. For an important game, first at home since Blooms has gone, against a poor team, there's really no excuse.

You can blame a lack of manager for any shape and tactical errors, but you can't for constant poor passes, crosses and decisions.

Scowen and GMac were miles off it, poor choices, bad passes, and every time GMac had the ball he was either tackled or lumped it beyond any striker.

Humphreys has been a cut above this season, and even he struggled to bring any ball down.

A real missed chance that was completely our fault

  • Two ways of looking at today's result - everyone around us dropped points, so there's no real harm done. On the other hand, a huge missed opportunity to get 3 points at home against a poor side (they really were) and extend the gap over Wrexham and Huddersfield.

Too many poor performances across the pitch today. Only Low, Bradley, Grimmer and Kone can be happy with their display today.

Due to the quick turnaround, I imagine Grace et al will be in charge on Tuesday, but I really think we need someone permanent in and ready for the weekend. Let's hope their rotation pays off on Tuesday night.

  • Gareth Ainsworth had full control of transfers when our budget was £2,000 and the deals were being negotiated by an ice-cream salesman. Matt lost control of transfers when the budget became £2m and the deals were negotiated by a director of football poached from the Premier League. Matt wasn't sacked, he chose to go to another club. He could have stayed for the remainder of his 18 months and benefited from those players. It's time to move on from the narrative that he was hard-done by. He was in complete control of his career trajectory and has left us willingly.

If you happen to be in a position where you adore all your bosses and don't feel frustrated when work you would like to do is reassigned elsewhere, then that's great. But in the real world the rest of us accept that work, particularly in the corporate world, involves compromise and partnership. This narrative that Matt Bloomfield was fucked over by Dan Rice is getting old and tiresome.

  • GMac pretty good second half too, bits from Can , Josh and Butcher but not enough.

  • Gmac sadly over or under hit every single cross. Much better at finding space in the second half, but his crossing was poor today.

  • Apart from the game’s two best chances which were perfect! (Low first half, Fred second).

  • This narrative that Matt Bloomfield wasn't fucked over by Dan Rice is getting old and tiresome.

  • True, but we looked decent with GMac, Fred, Cam and Kone together, just left it all far too late. Other results mean we are still in a very decent position.

  • If today has taught us anything, it's that Hanlan is miles off the standard required to play up front for us moving forwards, and that Lubala is probably likely to be bombed out by Berry once he's ready.

Other managers knew we were going to make a bid for one of their players when they heard a tinny version of Popeye the Sailor Man in the distance....

And Ainsworth does look the sort of bloke to be driving an ice cream van.

  • I remember when we used to score 2+ a game.

    Have we been "found out?"

At least we didn't lose. Clean sheet. Rested players. It's about the bigger picture. Onto Tuesday.

Toys and pram come to mind.

Forenote - Lucky to get a soft ‘handball’ (?) for the disallowed goal. Tzanaev (Goalkeeper) and Willis (ex-Wycombe) were outstanding for them. Not surprised in the slightest by Willis, as he was excellent in his short spell for us.

The bad - Strange line up. Was it arrogant? Does Kone need his minutes managed? Are we trying to slow down his profile growth to reduce transfer interest? Kodua, bless him, is not a League 1 right back. Lubala had a nightmare yet lasted 75+ mins. Harvie injury is bad news. Leahy is pants in midfield. All a bit silly. Bakinson would’ve suited today better than Leahy, but got no minutes. My biggest criticism is that we look like we did just before Mehmeti went to Bristol City this time two years ago - out of ideas and way too reliant on one player (Richard Kone).

The good - New signings still to come. We’re already in the market for a right back. Still got a manager to appoint. Results all went our way, so we’re in a fantastic position. Joe Low is back. Kone is fairly likely to stay this window.

Bad day at the office. Could’ve been 1 down. Could’ve been 2 up (if Tzanaev didn’t have a blinder). Not hugely concerned by today. Struck me as an off day. If we win on Tuesday (which we have clearly prioritised based on the team selection) then all will be forgotten.
