Yes remember the Fratton Park game, I'd brought along two guest to the game, one from Ireland the other from Belgium and both were not happy when a steward told us we could get beer in the ground and upon entry discovered the steward was telling porkies...then the rain came. By the time we got back to the coach I wouldn't have been wetter if I'd jumped in a swimming pool......sodden two hour drive home. Needless to say they haven't been back since....
If we can also mention games that should have been abandoned, I remember an away fixture in 1990/91 and I’m fairly sure it was against Northwich Victoria were they had to get the orange ball out and I still couldn’t see past the half way line. Not sure if anyone was there
I was going to post about that one. I seem to recall that on arrival at Loakes Park everything was nice and dry. The deluge was pretty sudden and unexpected. We parked in the College (as it was then) car park opposite, and being below road level we had to wade through ankle-deep water.
I was. I remember standing in the "open" toilets having a pee and the peak of my baseball cap got covered in snow in the time it took me to relieve myself! 😧
@our_frank Yes it is. A nice sunny day, but with the sort of temperature you usually get with a clear sky in December. In other words, absolutely freezing!
28 December 1985. Gola League. Weymouth 0 Wycombe 0 at their old Recreation Ground, only a couple of years before they moved to the Wessex Stadium. Don't remember any gas things there @93Chairboy. Perhaps you were thinking of the old Rec after all.
Abandoned after 25 minutes, frozen pitch. The re-arranged game was a 1-1 draw.

Do you suffer from gerascophobia?
The fear of former West Brom midfielder Zoltan Gera scoring?
Global warming has at least put an end it snow in October!
I remember a Boxing Day match v Oxford City not happening after getting into Loakes Park,
It was too foggy to play and there were no floodlights then. It must have been in the 1960s
I then lived within easy walking distance of the ground. I can't remember if we got our money back.

Car broke down so missing tomorrows match too. Two wasted admission fees in a week - not a good few days

Anyone remember this one?
If not, any guesses?
Is it the Wessex Stadium. Those gas things seem to ring some bells. I might be wrong
You are wrong, but you're on the right lines.
is it the Terras, @NewburyWanderer?

short shorts and no base layers, too. Hardy souls in the '80s.
