Club captain Grimmer given a new contract. Boyhood fan and long-serving staff member Sam Grace in interim charge for two games. Rejecting very large bids for existing players Low and Kone. Three examples of culture retention.
You may not like that they let Bloomfield go without much of a fuss and that they let go of his recruitment analyst and the psychologist and a few others, but there are many positives in other areas.
I’m by no means a Rice bootlicker, but let’s be fair and balanced. There have been a lot of debatably good and a lot of debatably bad decisions so far. All of those decisions warrant time. I’d like to remind many of you about the outrage when Des Buckingham was sacked a few weeks ago and since then Oxford are absolutely flying. What’s to say we can’t kick on even further than where we are now. FA Cup quarters? League title? Might seem unlikely now, but don’t rule it out.
We are spending a lot of money. Is there ffp in The Championship? If there is are the board banking on us getting promoted, and spending big in League One so it doesn't count towards any quota when we are in the higher division?
In regards to Humphries, right now I'd take him over the other 4 signings put together, he is a genius.
Yes, lots of football to be played, Humphreys is a brilliant footballer but also needs the occasional rest, not sure he's ever played first team football as regularly and often as he is now.
Haven't seen him play yet but suspect Lowry enables us to carry on and play the same way when Humphreys is tired, out of sorts or absent and can probably also fill in out wide, or other positions as needed.

We have at least 21 games over the next 14 weeks.
Plenty of matches for all the new players to bed in and get game time, plus our better players to play lots and get some rest if needed.

In fairness, rejecting huge bids has never been in our culture!
But we all welcome it becoming so!
