More noise from some LT news handle about sniffing around our squad. Given we are starting to see how our ownership operate, and I suspect our legal team are very on the ball, good luck!!
They did just buy Isaiah Jones for 5m, and sold Joe Taylor for 3m, so I'd say them offering that kind of fee this month isn't out of the question...
@kipper is this what you were referring to with the big bid being rejected a few pages back..?
If I was Dan Rice, I wouldn't sell Kone for any price this month. Let him get the League 1 golden boot, fire us to promotion, and his value doubles overnight in May.
I think realistically the only 2 players he would be looking at would be Low and Kone. We have already rejected bids for Low but given he’s not been in the squad for 2 weeks I suspect we think he might go.
Unless someone comes in with big money for Kone, no chance we should be selling him. Also, if he continues as he is I suspect he’ll get a bigger move than Luton come the summer.
This was one of the plots in the film Moneyball. The computer told the baseball team to buy a player who was horrible in real life. I think they had to let him go but I was trying to chat the stewardess up during that bit of the film.
He certainly has a bit of insight into our players that other managers won't have, nothing untoward but a bit about character or contract scenarios can help reduce the risk of any transfer.
He also has access to players and funds he couldn't have dreamed of previously so will have many different options. Can't imagine him buying up several L1 players is exactly what his new fans want right now regardless.
As I’ve said before, agents also know about their players’ contracts and will share with interested clubs so they will know all about contractual scenarios!
I disagree with your last sentence. MB is in a prefect position for most / all of our players because he still has their phone numbers on his phone. He admitted that he was trying to call as many as he could last week to "say goodbye" but maybe for one or two of those players (maybe Kone & Low) he could have been planting the seeds for them to think the grass is greener in Luton?
Any other manager would need to go through the player's agent and club which could take a while if the club isn't in a position to sell
We don't now what's going on behind the scenes, perhaps some of the players arent happy, there's no room for sentiment, this is a business you know, he's doing what's best for him and Dan Rice won't let him and if he does let him, he obviously does not want them and it's his club and he can do what he wants so who are we to complain ...I think that's how it goes.
If he has a job in the Summer… Luton are in a precarious position and can’t see Kone and Low staying in L1 if they get relegated especially if we go up.
I agree. Kone should be going nowhere this window unless big money comes in. £6m plus sell ons etc which I can’t see anyone paying now.
I think a good chance Low and Humphrey’s are Luton players by the end of this window though. No ITK purely based on we think Low wants to play in the Championship and hasn’t signed a new deal with us. Also, Cam must have a good relationship with Blooms from his time coaching there.
I'd be extremely surprised if Humphreys ends up at Luton this month. I can't see Ipswich recalling him from his loan, and certainly can't see them selling him unless it be for a significant fee.
Would certainly be disappointing to say the least.
Assume it's upto the end of Jan where they could recall him? Had thought someone had said there was an earlier deadline in Jan, but that may not be the case.
Disappointing for sure but given Blooms relationship with both Ipswich and the player it’s a move I can see happening. On a loan basis though can’t see Ipswich selling him he’s a hot prospect for them especially if they go down.
I think Hearts sent him back because he had a bad injury that they were aware of but did not inform Rangers. He was then out for 10 weeks and did not return to full fitness until the last month of the season.

if he comes back to try take our players , his legacy with us will be damaged
He can try, but he'll need a lot of wad.
It seems my hopes of a clause preventing that were misplaced
Luton have got a lot of wad
The days of us being fleeced are long gone though.
So if he wants to bid 6m for Kone or something we'll listen.

Do you have any idea if that is loan or permanent?
That and Hearts took him on as a loan and sent him back.
But it's ok, I'm sure (insert name here) will help him develop both on and off the field.

Your posts are so different they never fail to make me smile (I mean in a good way), so please don’t change!
And Blooms knows all the buy out figures for each player.
Any club interested in any player can very quickly find out any contractual buy out clauses.
If Luton's manager wants any of our players, he is entitled to bid. We are entitled to accept or refuse that bid subject to any contract clauses.
Really MB is in no better position than any other Championship manager.
Thanks for the explanation

If it’s Low and Kone I don’t think they’d mind

If Blooms is the professional we think he is, he won't be tapping up our players

He might not be tapping them up, but I 100% expect him to try and sign at least one before the month is out, and certainly again in the Summer.
If he has a job in the Summer… Luton are in a precarious position and can’t see Kone and Low staying in L1 if they get relegated especially if we go up.
Agreed, but we should be in a strong position to hold onto Kone

I’m pretty sure the loan recall deadline has passed for Humphreys.
