I’m expecting a fluent, attacking Wycombe today. A Stockport-esque performance. Think the lads will want to show that Wycombe is bigger than anyone person (even if that person was Bloomfield) and put a performance in for the temporary gaffer.
Hoping Fred and McLeary are well rested and come out of the gates flying.
Looking forward to seeing at least 20 mins of at least one of the new signings.
And expecting a goal from Low and/or Sonny today, as I suspect Mansfield will park the bus and be very physical so crosses and set pieces are going to be extra important. Which leads me to expect Leahy will start today.
Times have changed when opposition forums no longer criticise our style of play but move on to the size of our support.
Their away support has always been tinpot.
470 away tickets sold is dreadful for a team in the top 3, on a Saturday at 3pm. Think we took more to their place on a Tuesday night on a bad run of form! Just shows how good our support really is!
We took over 900. They've always been a poorly supported club and even in the top 2 still have a bottom 4 attendance average.
Sam Grace started going to Wycombe as a child in the MO'N years and now he's leading the team out in a league game. Probably only for one game but he must feel.......(sorry, I've started openly weeping)
All fair points. Their away support at AP was impressive for a Tuesday night. That said, unless you committed over a week ago, there’s no benefit in buying in advance so the attendance should be higher.
That said I wonder if the events of this week might dent it a bit. I’m sat 10 miles away and I’m not sure I’ve got it in me today - still a bit deflated by it all.
10% of our average home attendance isn’t a bad turn out away. Mansfield’s turnout at AP was very impressive, possibly there’s more Mansfield fans near London than Wycombe fans in Nottinghamshire.
From memory there wasn’t many Mansfield fans on the train back to London after the game.
Mansfield are on an upward trajectory and are well supported in their town. Whereas I would argue that WWFC are not well supported in Wycombe.
Northern towns with a long history in the football league always seem to muster strong away followings, especially if they are doing well. See also Grimsby, Chesterfield etc
Even having known him a bit over the years i've found it amazing how involved he's become in Wycombe - watching him manage the club for a game is incredible.
I failed my 12+ and went to Comprehensive and obviously big Wycombe fan. My brother passed his, went to Grammar school, HATES football and LOVES egg chasing.

Sam Grace's barmy army 💪
First game I'll have been unable to watch in some way since Bristol R away - will take the same outcome, COYB!
Not sure about their badge - especially the MFTC text (before any one says I know its MTFC but thats not what it says)
Did they model the stag on Jimmy Hill? Check out that chin!
Very Grange Hill, but probably in the years before it finally got canned

We’ve not lost at Field Mill for over 30 years in a League game. That streak goes back 8 games to our first ever season in the League.
Brave 😅

How long have Mansfield been a League club compared to Wycombe? 🤔
Also, doesn't their ground only have 3 sides open?
My town is bigger than your town is playground level anyway.
The reverse quality measure again. If you're so much bigger and have more fans shouldn't you be doing better than us?

Doesn't open weeping mean you're leaving the Gasroom?
But Wycombe is actually bigger 🤷♂️
We've also spent as many seasons in the second tier

Literally living the dream many of us had wandering up to the AP gates as a kid during the MoN era.
Full support to him and the boys today. Get into the them!
New gates to go next to the Loakes Park ones on the hill?
Yes, one of the long sides has been closed for ages. The home capacity is restricted to 7000 unless they open up the away end.
There's always a weird obsession with the number of fans teams take to games. As if it affects anything.

Let alone what it must feel to actually do it!
Plus the 2 cup semis, championship season and having had a host of quality managers.
No comparison really.
Wow.
You've never heard of a jinx 🤣
Yeah but Rugby twunts
75k Wycombe
110k Mansfield
50% bigger
🤣 True.
