On a serious note I will be absolutely devastated if this does happen. 1) At least give it til the end of the season Matt -we've not had a season like it and we believe you can get us promoted automatically or even win the league 2) You're better than Luton and their expectancy entitlement levels will be sky high having recently been in the prem.
isn't Tommy Yaxley Lennon their celebrity fan? Come on Matt, don’t go there… get us promoted and then go to Ipswich if you must. I know a new 25,000 seater, a shorter commute and a ton of cash is attractive but so are our red kites, our lovely quarters and our loyal band of supporters. Although to be fair a lot of the latter do stretch the definition of attractive unless the lights are very very low but we are deeply sorry about Orient away last season and if you stay we will ask you to wave twice a game and sing that you are our King every 20 minutes. And if you like, we’ll spring for a truly enormous Mr Wycombe flag.
There's been no real talk that Blooms is unhappy. You'd see why that could happen with Scott Mitchell going, but aside from a few people on here reading into things... we're making assumptions.
Also, we've just spent 500k on 1 player, there's talk of spending another 800k on another, so the absolute pile-on of Data Dan Rice is a bit silly.
My guess is that Bloomfield will go to Luton and to use a tried and tested deflection tactic the club will announce Westergaard and Morley to ‘soften the blow’.
We’ll have some additional compensation cash from Luton and the new manager will be…..
If he has a release clause in his contract, and Luton have triggered it, then he is within his rights to go and talk to them. There’s nothing to say he will accept, it all depends what drives him. Keeping Luton up and then mounting a challenge for promotion next season vs getting his club back to the second tier and keeping them there.
Time will tell but I seriously hope we get two tweets later:
1) “Wycombe can confirm that Luton have made an approach for Matt Bloomfield”
followed by
2) “But he has rejected their offer and has signed a new contract!”
To be fair, if there is nothing to the "assumptions" isn't it a stunning coincidence if Blooms is willing to leave AND allowed to leave in the middle of a promotion race?
Bearing in mind he is going to have to crawl over broken glass to get there, too? (credit: Luton forum)
All jokes about Luton aside, I don't think people realise how attractive an opportunity that is. And he'd surely be doubling his salary if not more. It's a shame if he goes, but the club is clearly moving in a markedly different direction to the one which existed when he was appointed.
I don't post often but feel compelled to now - really distressed about the possiblity of MB going. I have been concerned about the relationship between MBs team and the new ownership since early on in the season. You may recall that Dr Bob and Mirsia (the psychologist) left quite suddenly. I was told from a reliable source that they had been sacked by the new regimen the day before the Wrexham game. MBs team were not forwarned and not told the reason. I was also told something like - the communication/way of working with the new owners is very different to the old. With the concerns regarding Scott Mitchell's departure it doesn't look like all is rosy behind the scenes.
But IF he has a release clause in his contract (presumably one the Couhigs entered into) the Club has to legally comply with i unless @bargepole can find a loophole..
Of course the way of working with the new owners is different to the old. The Couhigs were small time businessmen, who were more intent on talking a big game than acting. We are now backed by a multi billionaire who has entrusted two key individuals to run the club. It's chalk and cheese.
Great post. I'll be absolutely livid with the ownership if Blooms goes. A brilliant season potentially derailed. Either way, they will be very much on the clock to show their plan works.
RE the contract clause - that would've been a Couhig special. If true, it's the second worst contract clause in Wycombe history behind the infamous Matt Phillips England clause.

I’ve got fuck all work done today because of this. If I’m sacked I’m suing Luton, ML, Dan Rice and the internet.

As far as I am concerned, if Blooms goes and we fail to get promotion, Dan Rice is the one whose performance should be analyzed.
If everything we do is data lead then surely all we need to replace Matt - and I'm not at all convinced he's leaving - is ...

Next Luton Manager market removed from SkyBet.
Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide;
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, oh, abide with me.

Jesus... Luton !?!? Of all clubs, Luton !!
Seriously not
Vokes? Bloke on Twitter says he's got the coaching badges.
Someone on another thread did say Jason McCarthy was set to hang up his boots for a coaching role... (joking!)

The widely reported release clause for Blooms is just 100k. Might be pure speculation but if true, not much to spend on new signings.
Scott Davies come home from Slough?

New stadium on the way, parachute payments, PL aspirations, closer to Felixstowe. I'm with you!
The weird thing for me is that I will have to actively want Luton to do well if/when he goes there. QPR was bad enough!

I doubt shaving ten minutes off his commute played much of a part in this.
if blooms does go...would love to see Rus Martin come back

Yes, people don't seem to be able to separate their thoughts about the area of Luton and Luton town the football club.
Much higher wage, higher division instantly, recent Prem status, new stadium earmarked etc.
Yes they could go down and we could go up, but nothing is a given.
Who the heck thought 100k (if accurate) was any sort of contract clause in I don't know.

Why are people posting as if the club want him not to go?

Be good if a new contract was given...
