Good question ! I will still have a child-like enthusiasm for going into the Valley, the travel convenience and a few beers at the Coal Hole at Charing Cross will be a bonus. But I did have my heart on a good chip butty! As Wycombe 85 pointed out, it's just a bit more galling losing to a side lower in the same league than the one above. If we lost to Preston, I would shrug and say 'well done' rather than losing to Charlton would be a 'what if'.
I don’t feel the same about football as a lot of you. To me the FA Cup isn’t a competition laden with uninspiring potential opponents and a select few teams that might provide a once-in-a-lifetime thrill. I could cope with a trip to Old Trafford or Anfield, even Goodison Park but the prospect of a trip to PNE or Charlton doesn’t fill me with meh that is expressed above. PNE are a legendary club and meeting them occasionally instantly reminds me of walking up to the old Wembley to the chorus of ‘ooh, Tony Ellis, ooh Tony Ellis’. Charlton likewise, big team, plenty of atmosphere, League Cup vs Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink et al ‘you’re not fit to wear the shirt’. New memories could be just around the corner.
Would there really be infinite replays? I've no doubt Tamworth would have been turned over at the new Spurs ground but they would have made a few thousand quid and the fans would have great memories. Go to extra time and pens in the second game by all means...
PL clubs could send your second string to play Steven Gerrard's Saudi Selection in the summer instead.

Just don't think about it
How much for 4th round you reckon? Ton?
Handily placed in mid winter, where everyone most loves midweekers.

The Danes will bring home the bacon.

Well said Mr Ed!
Deepdale is a proper ground, and I think the longest continuous use league ground. Would be a good day out.
It also has possibly the best football statue, that of Tom Finney inspired by an award winning photograph ‘The Splash’
A classic case of the missing comma in my earlier post - very "eats, shoots & leaves".
I’ve not seen a man as fuming at a ref than you that day in 1999!
I think the same gasroomer also enjoyed the song “Wemberley Ninety Four” during his drunken student days.
and that 2001-01 cup run also started away at a non league team.
We couldn't do it again, could we?
No it didn't. It started at home to a non-league team (as did this one, Wealdstone was round 2)

Wonder where Lloyd Jones sits in the midst of all this.
