  • Great team performance, particularly happy for Matt Butcher - hopefully he can push for regular starts now as he's such a classy, non-showy player. Also very happy for Nathan Bishop, who I would reward with a start next league match, let Rav see that there's real competition out there, just like he was for Stryjek. Kodua showed what we've been missing on the wings, though not so much at right back - he was regularly miles away from their left forward and his pace only saved him a few times. Fortunately Skura continues to impress, even if that's likely to be a cameo appearance.

  • My wife's cat sometimes hides behind a curtain (you can still see her paws) and jumps out at her.

I'd rate that as slightly more of a shock than tonight's FA Cup shock.

  • Some of their players had clearly been watching WWE on Netflix this week, particularly Devlin and Saydee.

It was a great performance from what was a mixture of first team and reserves. Bishop looked very comfortable when he came on although you have to feel for Shamal.

The exclusion of Joe Low will naturally leave us all sceptical but Bradley seems to be a decent signing and naturally we have the new lad, plus Declan.

All in all a decent night but I’m not sure about anybody else - it certainly didn’t feel like FA Cup 3rd round weekend. Not a fan of moving FA Cup games to a Friday evening.

Don't want Villa in the next round…we seem to play them too frequently…and lose.

how about Leicester? A winnable tie against a prem team.

  • Villa away on a Saturday 3pm KO wouldn’t be too bad, a return to Villa Park after 24 years, and we’re due a win .

  • Butcher has been unlucky. Last season when he joined, I thought he was EXACTLY what we needed at the time. He knitted us together and went about his work so neatly and I don't recall him putting a foot wrong or having a bad game.

To then lose your place to loan player that we have all fallen in love with must be gutting after you've staked your claim.

    Football is a cruel world.

  • Agree with those who said Portsmouth were shocking. We definitely helped make them look that way, but if Mousinho had secretly said "I'll ship you to Milton Keynes if you score" it could hardly have looked much different.

  • Was Hageldkaer on the bench? He wasn't on the skysports lineups. Surely not injured in the warmup!?!?

  • Oh yeah, forgot about that one, don’t want Villa again then.

…..just posting what others have already said , so deleted.

  • My God that was cold. Credit to Pompey fans and our Terrace for keeping up the noise and making it a decent atmosphere. Love the FA Cup.

  • I would prefer:

    1. Winner of Man United/Arsenal
    2. Everton
    3. Newcastle
    4. Forest
    5. Lowest ranked team left
  • Really good performance that.

No idea how strong Portsmouth's line-up was, suspect not very, but they looked off in every way - crap kit, no threat, no anything.

Back to winning aways and hopefully either the crappest team left in the next round, or a big game against a giant.

Only slight downside what looks a pretty obvious excuse for an outbound player not to get cup tied.

Not quite Grant's cold, but a very convenient indeed "illness".

  • I think there is only one tie that is guaranteed to deliver a side ranked below us - Mansfield v Wigan on Tuesday

  • Very pleasing evening! Getting through to the 4th round is huge for us.

Really rather comfortable in the end after a very dodgy opening 15mins. Bradley was a clear Man of the Match, marshaling a rookie defence. Pleased for Skura and Kodua who improved greatly as the match progressed. Good to see Butcher back playing well and nice to see Hanlan get a goal and had a few lovely touches.

  • Great result and was surprised how full the ground looked. Would of been miles out on the attendance thread! Fair play to everyone who made the effort.

Liked Bloomfields reaction at the end, looked like he really enjoyed that result.

The dreams still alive, roll on Sunday.

  • Has anyone ever seen a worse performance by a Championship side?

  • Am sure someone said with authority that we'd have 3,500 and Vokes was definitely out.

So it was surprising to see 5,000+ AND Vokes on the bench!

  • A surprisingly good crowd tonight given the conditions - the terrace felt very busy and a good atmosphere to match. Dare I say it - is this a result of not being able to watch online?!

  • Oh and the Pompey fans were superb tonight. That must've been seriously depressing for them but they kept the noise going all the way to the end. Respect to them all.

  • It was a decent turnout. And eavesdropping around the Vere suite it seemed a lot of floating 'younguns' had turned up. Genuinely heard one teen in the (ridiculously narrow and sluggish) queue say to his mate 'if it's like this I'm coming all the time'.

Was a lovely atmosphere on the terrace befitting the 3rd round of the Cup.

Very happy after a great performance. I have to say that Bradley & Skura were excellent in defence, didn't put a foot wrong and might need to take their strikers out of their pockets so they can go home and cry. Kodua looked comfortable and could def do a job as a make-shift rightback and we looked more comfortable with a back 4.

I wonder what happened to George, does anyone know?

Only player that I thought was disappointing was Bakinson, I felt nervous when he got the ball and seemed to give up posession too easily.

The thing about cup runs is that you can't control when they happen - you have to just accept the gift.

  • Matt Butcher well done sir. A superb performance. Did the invisible thing that he did so well last season that allowed everyone else to play their game, which made Leahey and Bakinson play better.

Whilst Portsmouth were poor we showed incredible discipline throughout to maintain shape and roles.

Well done all round and following the horrible performance of Tuesday it showed we do have competition and depth.
