Matt Bloomfield to Luton?

A comparison of the Twitter response to our Boxing Day 2024 victory at Stevenage with our Boxing Day 2023 defeat at Exeter City.

  • Lommy after every game.......

  • That tweet doesn't seem like a dig at the current owners at all? If it's in response to the comments from 2023, then it's in response to those comments.

  • I wonder if Lommy is in the decision making process.

DR: We want to let the manager go if someone comes in for him.

Lommy: Matt Bloomfield, right? Isn't he the one who has us punching far above our weight, with a once-in-a-blue-moon type season?

DR: (Checks notes): That would seem to be his name. Anyway, we have someone better if he goes.

    Lommy: Who?

DR: A chap from the Latvian third division. Analytics models show that his goalkeepers make more progressive passes per 90 than Ravizzoli does currently, and he inverts the CBs to receive the ball on their stronger foot in more advanced positions, where they can make diagonal passes into the opposite channels.

Lommy: Does he win a lot?

DR: They have lost every game, but the analytics check out.

  • @glasshalfempty now who is being selective & posting stuff out of context?

That post was in response to a post by Matt Cecil on 26/12 stating "what a 12 months. well done wycombe." -

I would suggest far from proving some grand conspiracy, Danny's post is a positive endorsement of the support the club provided to team & staff over the last 12 months.

Of course I could be wrong and talking out of my arse...

  • @flymofrank was asking if there had been any more comment from Danny Bloomfield following his original tweet on 08/11/2024 (since deleted).

  • If there is an ounce of truth to the article stating the club is willing to let Blooms go in the middle of a promotion battle, it tells us everything we need to know.

This isn't GA earning his shot at his dream job after 10 years of service, with us in 7th. This is us in the autos with a manager excelling with us who would clearly stay and help build and push us on, if appreciated.

How is it out of context? I was replying to a specific question from @flymofrank, which was adjunct to the wider discussion you're referring to. I also added the context of that tweet.

"Grand conspiracy" are your words, not mine. I am not indulging in hyperbole. There is a noise being created around Matt Bloomfield, that is fact, supported by evidence. Who is creating it, and why, is open to conjecture.

  • If he has a release clause and the clause is met, the club would have no choice.

loads of inconsistency in that article.

    What @eric_plant said.

I must admit I have to push myself more and more to get out to evening or rescheduled kick-offs already and I love live footy. I think if Matt did appear to get shafted after this season I may have to rethink. I know PL teams could give a stuff about fans, for even if clubs like Forest and Ipswich price out regulars, they will have people willing to come in and fill the gaps at the drop of a hat. Lose the goodwill of a thousand die-hards at teams (and attendances) of our size and you've really got to pull out the stops with signings, results and performances to get people in.

  • I don’t think he has a release clause but I don’t think he has much of a contract left so the club won’t be able to ask much if other clubs come calling.

  • Whenever Blooms does leave it does feel like the last strong link to the club ethos of the last 20+ years goes with him, aside from the Jack Grimmer captaincy. It will happen sooner or later as I think he is destined to manage higher either way, but it is a strange feeling knowing that the club is going to feel completely different whenever it does happen.

  • I love King Kone and Matty...but I still think both having had only half of an excellent season would be a risk for any club to invest in them.

I'm not saying it would not work out for them if someone wanted to take that shot, I think they are both destined for big things, but I would imagine most owners will wait until the end of the full season to see the big picture.

Of course, I would never have signed up Rooney after Birmingham, so I realise I know nothing.

How many more of these "Bloomfield to..." threads are we going to have where the usual suspects bring themselves to absolute misery tormenting themselves on stuff that might not even be an issue, for a move that probably won't happen?

Someone will no doubt quote me 18 threads down the line when he eventually does leave.

Just like the anti Ainsworth posters were when we hit a rare bad spell.

    "I WAS RIGHT"

  • Blooms will lead us to the Championship and if he copies Ainsworth and loses the first seven games he'll be gone. Lommy has no reason to let a manager who wins games go and Blooms will be too scared to move to a town that has given us Tommy Robinson, Charles Bronson and Andrew Tate.

  • I believe a team that only has one season in the Premier league gets two years of Parachute Payments not three as is the case for other teams.

In 2022/23 Luton had a turnover of £18M when they won promotion to the Premier League. This season the parachute payment is £49M which means they should turnover well in excess of £60M, next seasons parachute payment will be £40M and then it stops.

  • I only bring myself to absolute misery tormenting myself on a Sunday!

  • Even if Blooms was interested in leaving (for whatever reason) then he has already put himself in the shop window for a more exciting club than Luton in my opinion

  • This speculation about our manager's departure is becoming tedious. He won't leave unless he's sacked or Ipswich lets McKenna go Zzz

  • I have no idea at all who Sydney Sweeney is ???

I'm off to Google... I'll be back

  • She's nice.... but she's no Rachel Riley !

Or if we're just talking actresses.. Scarlett Johansson.

  • Ironically I have never actually seen Sydney Sweeney in anything - I just know she is the nom du jour.

  • I believe that is the textbook go to claim for all middle aged gents.

  • Daisy Edgar-Jones >

  • For those still curious…

    Sydney
