  • Funnily enough I’m not going to meltdown. I thought we fought valiantly second half, even if it was a bit brainless at times.

Can’t be bothered to go into detail and get even more downvotes. It’s the same stuff I’ve been saying all season/for years.

Good effort second half after a fantastic strike from their lad first half.

    Onto the next one.

  • Very flat tonight, and I doubt we will see that formation again as it just does not seem to work for us. It was a mistake by Franco, but the finish from Kane was a beauty, and if it goes to any other player it doesn't finish in the back of the net.

As a fan a quadruple substitution seems exciting and a great idea, but I'm not sure it really works, if anything it nearly always makes things worse.

  • He made an absolutely incredible save in the first half

  • The Jonny Pettitt bandwagon starts up....

  • Spot on.

We've been brilliant at time this season but are now in really poor form.

My guess is we are headed for something like 75 points and a 6th place finish. That will not enjoyable to watch.

  • Feels like playoffs now

  • I’m sorry you had to watch that, we're usually quite entertaining. Honest.

As somebody who predicted 10th (like everyone else) I'll take a playoff spot

  • Still 21 games left people, keep the faith. A good window will fix everything.

  • Impressed with Chapman. He looks a real prospect. Will be interesting to see where we both are on February 3. Both will need to strengthen.

  • Ye he’s been a real surprise this year. We came into the league with Nichols thinking he’s far too good for this league, managed to keep him, then got injured. Now I don’t think he will get back in.

Our season hinges solely on what forwards we buy in January, Duff has performed a near miracle getting us to 4th with no strikers.

I can’t really judge you based on tonight, you’ve had an incredible season so far, all good teams go through a rough patch. I would assume you’d have taken playoffs at the start of the year? Do you have a budget for January?

  • I’m sort of adding fuel to the fire but it did look like a muted goodbye from Low at the end there. The sort of goodbye where he’d been told not to make it toooooo obvious but to slyly get it in there

  • That was a shame but no meltdown from me, I think Matt and his staff have probably learnt a few things moving forward. The early goal from Huddersfield allowed them to be hard to break through as the game plan from that point. I don’t think we have the balance to play wingbacks as much as it may have been enforced. I was surprised we didn’t just start Fred as a right back, bring someone else into his normal role and keep our usual shape… but… with not knowing how match sharp Bradley would be perhaps that may be why we opted to start with extra support at CB with Leahy in there too. In fairness we started the 2nd half ok and then did switch to a back 4 but I didn’t think Gideon looked comfortable there.

Not sure it had been mentioned but is Wheeler injured? If not then I expect he is off somewhere or surely he would have slotted into right back?

Another poor performance. We’ve gone from free-scoring, whilst somehow still being wasteful, to creating almost nothing. With the Stevenage game sandwiched in the middle, that’s six below-par performances in seven games.

As a side thought, we need another left back. Harvie has been fantastic this season but that’s a couple of poorer performances in a row. We’re rotating the forwards for fun whilst Harvie’s having to do 90 minutes week in, week out.

I didn't think we were that bad today at all (certainly not in the second half), and the stats show it. On another day we win that comfortably 2-0, and we're in here talking about how much we controlled the game.

They scored an incredible volley, but other than that they barely even reached our final third, let alone created any chances (apart from the one that Franco saved which led to the corner they scored from). I can't recall Low or Bradley actually having to do any proper defending

Yes, they defended resolutely, but they also rode their luck and we clearly had the best 3 or 4 chances of the game. It was just one of those games where the ball didn't fall for us as it usually would

  • Yes, this is certainly our rough patch. I think 99.9% of Wycombe Wanderers supporters would have taken a play-off place back in August. We certainly have a budget, debatable how far it will stretch though.

We really need to bring Aaron Morley back. He's played a pivotal role in our incredible season (unbeaten run) so far. We really missed him tonight.

  • I'm actually really excited for Friday no matter who we put out. I want to "stick a pin" in the league for now and not think about it, after an exhausting holiday period. I think a Friday cup game followed by eight days of rest (and some incomings) is just what we need as a club!

  • I set up a moderately funny Patrick Stewart gag on page one of this thread.

But then we lost and I only got one thumbs up 9 pages later.

That's on YOU, Mr Matt Bloomfield. I hope you sleep well tonight.

  • Milestone alerts:

Sir Josh is on 248 appearances for us, so will soon get to the magical 250 mark, which is currently inhabited by one Adebayo Akinfenwa.

Jack Grimmer and GMac are on 197 and 195 respectively, and if Jack is too badly injured it may be GMac who gets to 200 first.

Last of all, congratulations to Sonny Bradley on the milestone that begins them all...1.

  • If this run of form costs points, it's one thing, but if it continues to cost thumbs we may see some folks on a very short leash!

  • I think when a club has a season as brilliant and unexpected as ours has been (so far) it certainly raises expectations to the point where every mistake and every failure to win seems bigger than it is.

We are going to lose the odd game, Ravs is going to make the odd mistake. We'll go on another run at some point and have fun with it! I remain thrilled at the fantastic season we are having, the odd blip aside.

Really disappointing one and I think those smashfests away at Shrewsbury and Stevenage have slightly hidden our drop in form. 3wins in 9 is it? And just 2 in 6 at home. With both being last min goals.

So much for thinking we had a real advantage in those extra home games!

Obviously massively missing Morley and Taylor.

Fingers crossed we have some really good news before the next league game.

Lose Low and not bring back either of Morley and Taylor and we'll very likely be checking 7th places results out very keenly.

  • I thought we played well tonight, best we've played since Stevenage away. We were rather disjointed at times, which is to be expected with the changes of personel and formation. 2nd half though we've dominated and had enough chances to have got at least a draw. Huddersfield were very strong defensively, but we had them hanging on at times. Just a shame we conceded that early goal.

It was a big game to lose, but we're still 2nd and hopefully the break after Friday will allow us to get a few injured players back and possibly add one or 2 to the squad. Losing Low of course would be a big blow if that were to happen. Bradley's performance was encouraging though.

  • I thought that performance was reminiscent of the kind of one we were putting in at the start of last season. A lot of passing around at the back and no cutting edge.

We haven’t beaten any of the sides in the top six and unless we add some quality we are going to be right up against it.

Given the owners billions it would be a shame if the ownership group don’t back Blooms, what a waste of a season it would be after the start we have had. We might not have another good one at this level for 10 years!

  • Hella lot of football still be played. We could finish top or 7th. All I know is I’m at a wedding in Malvern on Sunday 25 May (the projected/confirmed date of the L1 play-off final).

  • We have to be honest about certain players form and give them a rest. Leahy’s passing and set pieces have completely deserted him. Fred’s mojo is non existent. He’s only looking for a short run and then a pass back. Shrewsbury was peak Fred for me, awesome. Since then he’s been frustrating at best non existent at worse, arguably at fault for the goal tonight by ball watching.

Frustrating for Butcher. An empty midfield crying out for someone to get in there and set the tempo and not even a minute on the pitch.

Vicar: If anyone has any objections to this final speak now or forever hold your peace.....

Voice: 'We're playing 3 at the back'

    Bride: I want a divorce

Matt Groomfield: We're not even married yet!!

    Lommy: More academy pitches!!!!!!

  • This was exactly the kind of match Butcher was influencing us in last year.

  • Rubbish formation, rubbish hoofball tactic, rubbish subs.

Please can we start playing how we were a few months ago.
