Sonny Bradley signs

The same amount of times I saw and correctly called Keogh, Breckin, Boyes against the grain.

Edit - Just to be clear. I am being sarcastic with this comment. I did get those right, but I’ve got lots wrong too. I have seen Sonny Bradley over the years quite a few times, but the data, age, profile, timing, lack of rumour until today (post Hartridge red card), the fact he’s a left sider. I’m not writing him off, but it’s still an informed prediction of whether I think he’ll ’come good’.

  • I must admit I never thought being second and signing players in the first week of the window would make this place so salty.

    Good, isn't it?

  • Was Scott Mitchell here for that transfer window?

  • Opinion about Breckin was fairly mild after his first non entity game wasn't it?

And I don't think anyone expected much more than occasional squaddie from Keogh did they?

  • Neither but still a good player. More big, hard bastard.

  • Great move in my opinion. I would not be surprised if we get one or two more CBs in with or without Low going, but getting massive (left-footed) experience and physicality in immediately is fantastic.

I can live with Low, Bradley, Skura & Hartridge, but I don't think we're done. Low might leave, but in the meantime we have a very respectable CB pairing, and time to solve for him going if he does.

Looking forward to seeing what we do in midfield!

  • Sonny Bradley is a damn good player, great in the air, a leader, a winner.

But he is a very different player to Caleb Taylor. It’s a surprising signing but there must be a plan.

  • What no new players?????

    Not that new player !!!!

At least the usual suspects can't say 'That's on Bloomfield...' as it seems it isn't.

  • Buy you suggested that MB has no influence over signings and this is the first one since the players I mentioned who have performed so well this season. Bradley played 41 games for Derby last season including the majority of the games which saw them promoted from League One, the division he is coming to now. My assessment is that someone who has played over 400 league games, many of them in the Championship, deserves respect especially as he hasn’t even played a game for us yet.

  • Great signing, proven championship level defender who can score goals too.

  • I am bemused by all the negativity

    1. We have signed an experienced CB on loan to fill the gap left by Taylor being recalled, meaning we are not lumbered with an expensive asset if we do not get promoted & equally we are freed up a slot for an even better player if we get promoted - win/win
    2. Presumably, this is the result of Rice's recruitment data team - if so it seems a decent start in addition to the youngsters announced in the last few days
    3. Blooms is still the manager, as he manages the team including picking the side, the tactical set up, training etc.
    4. The majority of clubs in the 92 now seem to work with a DF who to a greater or lesser extent is responsible for recruitment

We should give it a chance to see what the outcomes are both with Bradley & the rest of the window before we rush to judgement on the changes.

  • Written for him by the powers that be.

    Open your eyes people!!!

A very good signing in my opinion. Yes a stop gap signing but that's exactly what we need right now.

I'm kind of happy the blokes experienced and has been promoted from league 1 a couple of times. He's 33 not 43 like some are acting like.

At least we know what we are getting. Better than a young kid that may or may not be up to the job ie Breckin

Completely agree, and it also seems to be overlooked that our manager has himself probably played against plenty of times over the years!!

  • Yes, I am talking about this signing.

Where have I been disrespectful to Sonny Bradley?

  • On a run in where there is every chance of promotion nothing is more valuable than experienced players who have been there and done it. Someone like Bradley and, if there's any truth, Sawyers are just what we need right now.

Yes, this is a stop gap signing. It’s a loan. He’s 33. Isn’t any loan signing a stop gap of there is little to no chance of permanent signing. So Of course it bloody well is a stop gap.

its January, we’re at the top end of the table. A stop gap makes perfect sense when the summer we might want Championship level defenders instead of top of League one.

Scott Mitchell was only ever one average window away from people claiming he had lost it. Or didn’t know what he’s doing.

Dan Rice is only one Window away from being a transfer window god. Or an idiot. Or more likely, somewhere in the middle.

New owners came in, with a whole new plan and outlook on how to do things. I think some people need a reality check that it’s a miracle only one person left.

  • Are you serious? You say he was foisted upon MB, compared his signing to that of Duberry, and that you had seen enough of his 450 appearances to make a judgement about him. That hardly suggests you have respect for his playing ability despite the fact that both Luton and Derby thought he was good enough to play in the Championship in the last two seasons.

  • Why would the owners not want us to be successful and they’ve already spent a small fortune on the academy to ensure that we have a chance of being successful for many years to come.

Not even being close to In The Know or having a vast knowledge of players, until he is proved to be a disaster foisted on a reluctant manager, I welcome the signing of an experienced CB (even from Direby) as we live through the turmoil of the transfer window. I recall Sunderland being glad to be shot of a certain poor quality midfielder.

  • Sonny Bradley’s magic

    He wears a magic hat,

And if you threw a brick at him

    He’d head the F****r back

He'll head them to the left side

He'll head them to the right

And when we win promotion we'll sing this song all night

    Oh..........

  • Indeed. Bristol City fans were also less than complimentary about Joe Low.

  • I don't think he's necessarily a bad player, but it's a curious signing from a stylistic POV. He is not a ball-player.
