Prepared for the downvotes, but this is more than shades of Keogh. Disappointed. Can only expect the worst if we’re signing him. Seems like a panic deal. Doesn’t suit us stylistically at all.
I really feel sorry for Matt Bloomfield having these players foisted on him. I think it’s clear he’s become a head coach since Scott Mitchell’s sacking. I wonder how long he’ll want to continue working under this management structure.
Manager Matt Bloomfield said: “After losing Caleb Taylor back to West Brom, it was imperative for us to bring in a strong centre-half to replace him and we’re delighted to bring Sonny into the group for the rest of the season.
“He’s got fantastic experience of success at this level and will be able to hit the ground running after playing games for Derby over Christmas and the New Year.
“We’ve always been impressed with him when he’s played against us down the years and he’ll bring real leadership and quality to the backline.
“We’re in a really strong position going into the second half of the season and everyone’s working extremely hard to build on the progress that we’ve made as a club. It’s an important transfer window for us and bringing in Sonny as our first new recruit for the first-team is a hugely positive step forward.”
There's a lot of noise and speculation on here today but ultimately - whoever is in charge of making transfers - has filled the biggest single gap in our starting XI with a player from a higher division who has stacks of experience playing at the top of L1. Feels about as good as we could hope for, and certainly calls into question Andrew Howard's notion that the club had no plan to replace the players we'd lost.
Let's just wait and see how Sonny Bradley gets on. As boring as that may sound!
Half the clubs in the country work on this basis now. I don't see a problem, and in a way it relieves a bit of pressure on the manager as he won't be blamed for poor signings.
That’s fine if it’s what you’ve signed up for. Matt Bloomfield’s job title still says manager but it’s clear he’s not bringing these players in. I don’t think it’ll absolve him of blame when results and performances tail off.

He won this division apparently in 2019.
Decent going.
6ft 5 will please @micra
Good signing assuming he’s still capable at 33

stop gap signing in my view....hope he proves me wrong...has similar vibes to Richard Keogh for me.
Richard Keogh is 5 years older
I quite liked him as a player over the years. Dunno if he's still got it though.
Yeah, I'm not overly enthused. Hopefully a couple more coming in.
Oi! We are using fancy new analytics! He will be brilliant.
General consensus from Derby fans is they are happy to see the back of him and think they are signing Louie Barry.
Can’t argue with his record, and at 33 he’s still got some good years in him.
When it comes to footballing discernment Derby fans must be right at the bottom.
You can't teach that. However being 33, I hope he can match the pace & style of our game
Got to give him one game first to see what he's up to.
A massive aerial force sounds great.
will be a dan signing not a blooms one imo
Looks like an absolute unit too.
The sunny optimism of the Gasroom is what keeps me coming back.

Of course he has. But I think it's becoming increasingly the norm.
Not sure how much say Blooms has in proceedings, but I'd sort of assumed that Rice was the de facto head of recruitment.
*sonny
Eh?

Promoted with Luton, promoted with Derby... going for the hattrick?
Welcome Sonny Bradley, here’s to another successful finale to a League One season.

Good few years ago now admittedly but Argyle supporters were gutted when he chose to leave them.
Let's hope we don't have that 'journeyman' argument again
Well said Matt !! Bloody hell... everyone putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5 ! Give over, and give the bloke a chance
