I think Matt's take on the Hartridge yellow cards was correct - both were yellows but plenty of fouls that were worthy of a yellow escaped further punishment (Grimmer escaped what I thought was a nailed-on booking early in the game). It will no doubt be massively disappointing for him that his big chance to make an impression during this transition period of loan signings leaving (even if only temporarily) has resulted in another red card. Talk of this being his last game in a Wycombe shirt is a bit on the ridiculous side, though we don't know just how ruthless the new regime are going to be with players not performing to a standard that they deem acceptable.
Likewise, I thought straight away he'd be sent off. Didn't look quite as bad seeing it again on tv, but there can be no complaints other than the ref's failure to book the Blackpool player for a similar, but worse foul on Kone for the penalty.
Rather hoping we'll see Hartridge against Pompey on Friday. Good chance for him to put the sending off behind him and put in a big performance.
Are the rules different for the PL then? Bruno Fernandes got sent off v Wolves - his third red of the season and his second domestically - but only missed one game.
The first one (v Spurs) was rescinded so it was his first domestic perhaps? And the European one doesn't come into play here - the link you shared doesn't have European football listed anywhere in the automatic suspension bit so that could be separate?
Cousins had 2 reds in consecutive weeks back in 93. That all time worst 2 footed lunge v Doncaster (think that was my 2nd ever game!) and then handling on the half way line - which was altogether harsher as no chance their attacker was getting near the goal or making anything of it.
Wasn’t the handball one first? IIRC it was against Col U and they played a through ball on a counter. Jase was the last defender around the centre spot and stuck his arm out to stop the certain 1 on 1.
The horror tackle wasn’t even a straight red, but two yellows, despite being the worst tackle I’ve ever seen live.
I always thought the game was less violent now...watching the 1980s Big Match games on ITV, players seem to get hacked down, jump up with a wince and get on with it, whereas now a scream and a roll and a lie on the floor is de rigeour at all levels.
I realise it is probably a myth that players were all tougher back then...
Oh for a time machine where the "balance challenged" likes of Neymar and Pepe have to go up against Roy Keane, Steve Bruce, Tony Adams, Steve McMahon etc.
I think people are exaggerating it! Rather like that fish they caught, which gets bigger with each retelling of the story, so the ferocity of the "challenge" by Jason gets more each time.
It was a mild ankle tap wasn't it?
(For the avoidance of doubt I know Jason struck the guy with both feet whilst travelling horizontal, in what remains the best impression of an guided missile I've ever seen. In the modern game the guy would have lain motionless for at least 20 minutes while an air ambulance was called to the scene.)
That's 90s boy, when they played on grass...rather than muddy quagmires covered in sand. (Which I suppose probably cushioned their falls in the 70s and 80s) I watched a game the other day that was reasonable fast moving eventhough it was when they could just pass back to the keeper...and the player nearest the ball when it went out just took the throw-in.
Fine, I don't have a problem with the sending off/second yellow, but please explain why the Blackpool player wasn't booked for an almost identical challenge?
Now that is a tackle...looks like he was already in the air when he was out of shot! I assume no-one ever stopped him to suggest he had had a poor game as he left Tesco Express.

The former.
Until we need him to play in a couple of games time having failed horrifically to entice any other defender in.
He'll play against Pompey

He won’t. He’s suspended against both Huddersfield and Pompey (two match ban).
What was Hartridge sent off for earlier in the season? I genuinely can’t remember.
It's one game for a second yellow
Or is it an additional game for his second red of the season?
Apparently so, every day's a school day https://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/discipline/player-essentials
Two yellows away at Northampton in the EFL cup. Second one was for time wasting on a throw in, couldn't tell you what the first one was for

No. Fernandes red v Spurs overturned on appeal. He’s only had one domestic red this season.

Ah yesss
Anyone know the most red cards in a season for a Wycombe player?
no but I'd guess Cousins, Doherty or Brown?

The challenge Vs Doncaster was probably worth two red cards itself
It wasn't that bad a tackle, as I recall, the player wasn't even injured. He just got up and dusted himself down. 😆

Yes you're right, other way round.
It wasn't that bad an outcome, but it was certainly one of the all time worst attempts at a tackle.
He took a running sprint and launched a 2 footer 10 yards away for frig's sake 😂

This is the worst I've seen https://youtu.be/vuRvoe3G0PU?feature=shared

"Both players went too high for it".
It's a 50-50 whether that or the fact the ref only gave it a second yellow are more laughable.
Definitely one of the worst ever. Not absolutely wrecking the opponent doesn't lessen it, just makes it fortunate!
